Job description
To complete 3D models and 2D drawings in support of an MA700 Generator programme and will form an integral part of the engineering activities
Responsibilities:
The production of CAD 3D models, including assemblies models and 2D drawings for concept and detail designs of electrical machines.
Mechanical Design of components /subassemblies utilised in rotating equipment.
The production of parts lists as defined by latest CAD assemblies
Working with suppliers and supply chain to design components to meet cost targets, form, fit and functional requirements.
Provide support to other team members in completion of their activities.
To liaise closely with other project team members such as stress, manufacturing, sourcing and configuration with respect to potential new designs or design changes.
To support project needs and timescales, monitor progress and ensure satisfactory milestone compliance.
To support the Lead Engineer to ensure the technical integrity of the product and that it meets all performance, reliability, cost and safety requirements.

Candidate skills & requirements
Degree level or equivalent, MSc preferred, with a minimum of 3 years experience in Mechanical systems environment. Previous exposure to team management, project management and leadership.
Essential skills:
• Should be educated to Degree or equivalent level in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Should be a fully competent CAD (Siemens NX6) user with proven experience of CAD design
• Must be able to effectively communicate, formally and informally with peer group, other team members, suppliers and customers.
• Must have an understanding of engineering materials and production methods relevant to them.
Good time management skills, proactive with an ability to prioritise
Must have the ability to plan work efficiently to meet agreed monthly milestone tasks.
Proficient modelling (Component and Assembly) using Siemens NX6 CAD software
Proficient in specifying manufacturing tolerances for machined and cast components including Geometric Tolerances (GD&T)
Good problem solving and technical report writing skills.
Competent in using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Salary
FTE £32,000 negotiable
