Job description

Your Role

As Manufacturing Engineer – Sheet Metal, you will define and validate the sheet metal manufacturing process from engineering definition within HSE, quality and budget requirements. You will ensure industrialization is mature and compliant with Safran's standards, supporting the ongoing excellence and innovation at our Burnley site.

Key responsibilities include:

· 
Designing and defining manufacturing processes for sheet metal at targeted cost and within specification

· 
Creating and validating standard work instructions, quality control points, and inspection methods

· 
Recommending and specifying plant, equipment, and tooling

· 
Preparing routes, BOMs, layouts, tooling requests, and data sheets

· 
Ensuring performance targets (quality, cost, delivery) are achieved

· 
Coordinating cross-functional activities (Engineering, Logistics, General Services)

· 
Guiding suppliers (internal/external) as process experts when needed

· 
Leading activities for validating new industrial products and processes

· 
Representing manufacturing engineering in front of customers, supporting the Industrial Programme Manager

· 
Overseeing risk assessment and escalation related to product and people safety

·

Candidate skills & requirements

What You'll Bring

Essential:

· 
Proven experience in sheet metal manufacturing engineering within the aerospace sector

· 
Expert knowledge of titanium, aluminium, and steel aerospace materials and associated mechanical properties

· 
Understanding of material heat treatment and transformations

· 
Background in advanced manufacturing engineering environments

· 
Proficiency with MRPII process

· 
Understanding of business economics

· 
Engineering degree (mechanical, manufacturing, materials) or HND/equivalent experience

· 
General aircraft knowledge, ideally including civil aircraft nacelle structures

· 
Strong communication and team skills, able to analyse and summarise complex issues, proactive and thorough approach

Desirable:

· 
Experience with process improvement methodologies (such as LEAN, Six Sigma)

· 
Previous exposure to customer-facing engineering roles
