Job description

This position requires access to technologies and hardware subject to US national security based export control requirements. All applicants must be US Citizens, or otherwise authorized by the U.S. Government. No company sponsorship will be offered.

This position contributes to our vision by:

• Implement and communicate safety and environmental initiatives that exceed regulatory requirements

• Support and implement strategies to establish and improve safety and environmental compliance practices for facility-wide activities

• Assist the HSE Team with all aspects of safety and environmental compliance

• Actively support safety and environmental management systems in order to maintain a high level of achievement per Safran's HSE Standards

• Recommend and support process and equipment improvements to minimize the safety risk of Safran Landing Systems personnel

• Assist in educating personnel in safety and environmental risk abatement and minimization with the ultimate goals of: (1) zero hazardous emissions, (2) zero landfill waste, (3) zero Personal Protective Equipment, and (4) zero high safety risk

• Recommend and support equipment and process changes to improve safety and environmental impact of operations

• Support a proactive effort in safety and environmental testing to ensure regulatory compliance

• Assist in establishing and ensuring adherence to internal auditing schedules

• Lead root cause analysis and manage preventive/corrective action follow-up

• Perform HSE training

• The position requires extensive chemical knowledge in order to manage safety data sheets, job hazard assessments, chemical risk assessments, make PPE determinations, and perform chemical/media sampling and/or tests, among other chemical-related tasks

• Sit for long periods of time while operating office equipment

• Vocal communication, hearing, and visual acuity are required for safety, direction, and the exchange of ideas in the industrial environment

• Work in/near electro-magnetic fields created by high temperature induction furnaces

• Work in confined spaces and wear a respirator and/or self-contained breathing apparatus

• Subjected to inside environmental conditions, noise, vibration, oils and other related industrial hazards

• Perform duties requiring kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 20 pounds periodically

• Must be physically able to be certified to operate a powered industrial vehicle

Candidate skills & requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related physical or biological science (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred)

• Provide unofficial copies of college transcript(s) with application

• Less than five years experience working in manufacturing or related chemical processes

• Must be motivated to seek additional training in the HSE field, and earn professional certifications (CHMM, ASP, CSP, CIH, QEP or similar)
