Technical Packaging Technician

This role is within P&G's External Supply Solutions group who work with Contract Manufacturers in Europe to deliver Beauty Care product on P&Gs behalf. The core responsibility of this role is to create and administer the product specifications to enable production to P&Gs high standards.

Operating within P&G's Corporate Standards System (CSS), the Technical Packaging Technician will liaise with the Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Material Process Delivery (MPD) teams and with our Contract Manufacturers to ensure fit-for use specifications are available for all supported products.

Providing support to successfully deliver new initiatives and to maintain on-going production across our portfolio of 1400 different products, with focus on improving the quality and cost performance of these products.

The core responsibilities are:

• Collaborating with P&G's Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Materials Process delivery (MPD) to create specifications

• Timely completion of specification set-up, review and approvals in the Corporate Standards System

• Attend and input into project delivery meetings, highlighting risks where necessary

• Involvement in experimental orders at contractors to ensure products can be produced correctly (travel may be required)

• First-off production sample approvals against specifications

• Investigating and identify root-causes of quality issues and deviations

• Technical Packaging contact for contract manufacturers (CM)

• Training contractor manufacturers in the necessary specification systems required (travel may be required)

• Identification, investigation and implementation of packaging or operational cost-savings

• Identifying and owning improvement projects within the department

• Some tertiary packaging development in collaboration with contractors, and transit testing of this packaging (as applicable)

This role will be in the Beauty care business impacted and it is expected that successful candidates will be employed by the Coty business upon the anticipated closing of the merger of the brands into Coty (expected in 2016).

Desired profile

The candidate will need to:

• Operate with discipline as the role will require compliance with a number of Quality Assurance and Technical Packaging procedures, policies and standards.

• Have an eye for detail to ensure specifications are of the highest standard and compliant with company policies and procedures

• Ensure all initiative activities are completed on-time and in a quality manner to avoid impact to project delivery timings

• Strong communication and collaboration skills as the role requires interaction with multiple functions internally and externally

• Have an ability to plan and manage own priorities with limited guidance, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to follow projects through to conclusion will be key to the success in the role.
