Job description
Scientific Communications is a unique type of role that allows an individual to combine scientific and technical expertise with strategic and creative thinking, communication skills and commercial understanding. It also requires the ability to collaborate effectively inside and outside the company. We are looking for an individual that can transform deep science into compelling and appealing messages that everyone can understand. You will work in close partnership with R&D, Brand Management, Global Product Safety and external scientific experts to develop and execute scientific credentialing/advocacy strategies and create compelling scientific product stories/content for P&G Ventures and New Business brands. This work is critical for brands already in market (Zevo- Pest control), as well as brands we will launch in the future.
As a Scientific Communications Manager, you will be developing the scientific strategy and content to support the success of P&G Ventures and New Business Unit. Key responsibilities include:

Lead development of technical/scientific assets and stories for commercial leverage on current business programs the generate earned awareness and advocacy with external stakeholders building claims, demos, visuals or videos describing or depicting product benefits or mechanism of action that drives differentiation and superior communication.

Support customer sell-in efforts for relevant programs across multiple categories

Lead a technical/scientific competitive product technology landscape assessment for developing programs to identify relevant ingredient/product stories for commercialization

Early credential assessments and plan development for programs in discovery phase. Supporting the upstream innovation: Creation of excellent technical product stories with scientific insights, superior claims and visualization of benefits and science.

Support new business scouting efforts by providing product/technology assessments.

Lead relationship with current and future research partners, develop professional leverage and promotion plans for upcoming clinical outcomes.

Support issue/crisis management and Consumer Relations/Customer Service efforts on current business as needed.

Continuing to grow skills day-in, day-out, by connecting with internal and external scientific and key opinion leaders. Leading external stakeholder relationships to counsel our programs internally and help us accelerate our external thought leadership.
Job Qualifications
We are looking for a passionate and driven individual who:
Is able to build effective working relationships: you will need to be able to work effectively with a broad range of people within P&G, our agency partners, customers/retailers and external influencers. This will be key in helping to develop effective relationships with R&D, Marketing and Communications agencies to proactively create plans, communications tools, credentialing partnerships to best meet the needs of the business. It is a very dynamic role which offers the potential for growth and development within the role and longer term within the global Scientific Communications organization. Must be able to effectively work with and influence multi-functional teams and diverse global individuals both within P&G and externally to deliver the desired outcome.
Has a strong Technical Mastery: this is essential as you will need to become fluent in the technology behind P&G brands and initiatives. This technical understanding will be critical as you work to create Scientific Communications strategies integrated with the business, materials and communicates the science to influencers, and other external bodies.
Can communicate effectively: you will need to create clear, concise and well-organized communication materials and messages (written, oral, visual). Ability to present information both clearly and convincingly to external influencers (e.g. science and news media, as well as medical, academic and professional experts).
Is Creative: you will need to be able to think creatively to develop compelling stories as well as identifying new opportunities for Scientific Communications to drive earned awareness, credibility and build the business.
Is externally in touch: demonstrate an interest in and have an eye for the external landscape. This includes understanding key trends and the unique value 3rd party credentialing can bring to the business.
Is agile and flexible : you will need to skillfully handle expected and unexpected questions and objections raised by customers and media, on occasion in face-to-face situations. You will need to juggle the needs of customers and external influencers to enable work with R&D, Marketing and Communications agencies to proactively create plants.
Required:

Ability to communicate complex science in a simple manner.

Ideally a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or similar field.
·
A high level of proficiency in the English language is essential and the candidate must have global skills to be able to communicate across cultures.
