Job description

P&G is seeking a microbiologist, cell biologist, or biomedical engineer for a Ph.D. Intern position. The key objective of this internship is to develop co-culture methods to measure and understand microbial community dynamics under physiologically relevant conditions and the influence of different materials on these dynamics. The specific project work includes:

· 
Working closely with team members to review literature, IP, and interview internal colleagues to landscape in vitro models to evaluate host-microbe interactions and measurable downstream responses.

· 
Develop and begin optimization of a prototype model system for assessing the dynamics of a microbial community on different human cell lines

· 
Assess material impact on these dynamics using various analytical methods

· 
Report findings to team members and key stakeholders with recommendation for next steps

Job Qualifications

·  Ph.D. candidate in Microbiology, Bioengineering, Molecular and Cellular Biology,  Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
·  Proven microbiological and human cell culture experience
·  History of working with BSL2 organisms
·  History of working with human cell lines with demonstrated competence in sterile technique and cultivation
·  Basic laboratory quantitative and digital skills
·  Experience programming and running microfluidic systems is preferred
·  Knowledge of and/or working experience with human microbiomes is preferred
·  Host-microbial interactions experience is preferred
·  Strong communication skills
