Ph.D. Intern - Real Time In-Context and Privacy Preserving Consumer Understanding

Are you passionate about privacy-preserving AI?  Are you interested in developing the next generation privacy-preserving AI/ML capabilities to better understand how people use consumer care products? 

Given IMU data from user activity, we will measure effort/comfort of consumers performing routine daily tasks.  We will a) segment micro-actions / sub-activities, b) determine effort required during specific tasks, c) assess time taken to complete a certain task, e.g. time to clean dishes, brush teeth, wash hair, perform laundry tasks.

Help us to design studies to collect training datasets for new tasks, and use annotation for IMU data for event classification (Human Activity Recognition). This internship will have three parts i) data collection and preparing labels, ii) model building and evaluation, and iii) integration of the model in a native mobile app for event detection.

Job Qualifications

Currently studying for Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer / Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience with signal processing, IoT sensor data processing, and advanced computer programming and statistics.
