We are looking for a passionate, experienced individual to join our Cobalt Park Offices in Newcastle as an occupational health nurse adviser. The need is for a full time position, Monday to Friday and will involve remote support for Harrogate office site with one visit per month.
Responsibilities:
Work in a team with the site occupational physician, health and safety team, Human Resources and management to protect and promote employee health safety and well-being. You will advise employees and managers regarding work-related health issues as well as maintain a culture of attendance and productivity.
In particular:
· Manage the Occupational Health Department for Cobalt site with responsibility for Harrogate site one day per month and health surveillance program for Newcastle Longbenton site.
· Liaise with managers and site Occupational Health Physician in management of sickness absence cases facilitating appropriate referrals. Appointment schedules will be managed by an Occupational Health Administrator within the department.
· Assist in rehabilitation and return to work programmes liaising with Legal and HR if necessary, considering the Equality Act.
· Review pre-placement health assessment papers, conduct any relevant screening and refer to Physician if required for medical examination.
· Advise employees and managers regarding work-related health issues.
· Participate in ergonomic assessments of the workplace and (work with site management to) ensure 100% compliance of Workstation safety plus alert site leadership of non-compliance.
· Conduct monthly workplace inspections including equipment checks for BLS.
· Work in a multi-disciplinary team with HS&E, HR and Management to promote employee health safety and well-being.
· Provide relevant health surveillance to employees working at Newcastle Innovation Centre 1 day per week with hazards i.e. spirometry, skin prick testing, vision testing at appropriate time intervals.
· In liaison with the Occupational Health Administrator Provide supplies and support to the first aider community, and Mental health First Aiders onsite.
· Ensure that enough first aiders are available to the site as required by risk assessment.
· Provide immunisation programmes for overseas business travel and occupational exposure to pathogens.
· Conduct voluntary health screening comprising of height, weight, BMI, Blood Pressure, Eyesight screening, and ‘finger-prick’ cholesterol utilising the organisations Vibrant Living Online Wellness Tool.
· Target regular health promotion on site with a focus on occupational factors and site health needs analysis data. Be an active member of the Vibrant Living Health promotion program and develop engaging health awareness initiatives to site.
· Provide emergency care for all occupational injuries and illnesses and any acute illness developing at the workplace.
· Participate in Health and Safety education programmes, i.e. Ergonomic / Biohazard.
· Ensuring that all first aiders and others that may be at risk from biological hazards are provided with the appropriate training.
· Provide Occupational Health input into other training programmes where appropriate, i.e. New Hires.
· Attend European clinical conferences when required to ensure further learning and networking opportunity.
· Work with site resources and respective health managers to ensure site meets internal and external audit programs. Perform annual internal health service key element surveys, provide a report to the Health Systems Manager and input data.
· Together with the Occupational Health Admin assistant select and maintain supplies and equipment consistent with site needs to ensure adequate and appropriate supplies for OH activities are available.
· Maintain, recall and have access to the Global Occupational Health databases and provide annual reports.

Qualifications
Requirements (skills / experiences) for the role:
We welcome Applicants who are a Registered Adult Nurse or a Registered Specialist Comm Public Health Nurse – OH, but open to anyone with relevant experience to also apply for the role.
