The Opportunity

Global Home Care Scientific Communications is a unique type of role that allows an individual to combine scientific and technical expertise with strategic and creative thinking, communication skills and commercial understanding. It also requires the ability to collaborate effectively inside and outside the company.

We are looking for an individual that can transform deep science into compelling and appealing messages that everyone can understand. You will work in close partnership with R&D, Brand Management, Global Product Safety and external scientific experts to develop and execute scientific credentialing/advocacy strategies and create compelling scientific product stories/content for Home Care brands, for cleaning and hygiene.

This role is located in Cincinnati, Ohio as you will be executing the design for North America. In addition, you will lead the Scientific Communications design globally for the Home Care brands. You will also ensure that Scientific Communications for Home Care is an integrated part of the overall product concept and creation and commercialization process.

Job Description

As the Global Home Care Scientific Communications Senior Manager, you will be developing the scientific strategy and content to support the success of Global Home Care and NA brands (Fairy/Dawn, Cascade, Microban, Swiffer, Mr. Clean, Febreze). This will include:
•Leading the creation of integrated Scientific Communications strategies and plans that generate earned awareness and advocacy with customers and other external bodies like universities, key opinion leaders and influencers.
•Leading external stakeholder relationships to counsel our programs internally and help us accelerate our external thought leadership.
•Developing crisis prevention plans for the full line up, covering escalation models and mitigation plans.
•Supporting the upstream innovation: Creation of excellent technical product stories with scientific insights, superior claims and visualization of benefits and science.
•Working with agencies to inspire and lead the development of compelling Scientific Communication materials.
•You will be growing your skills day-in, day-out, by connecting with internal and external scientific and key opinion leaders.

We are looking for a passionate and driven individual who:

Is able to build effective working relationships: you will need to be able to work effectively with a broad range of people within P&G, our agency partners and external influencers. This will be key in helping to develop effective credentialing partnerships and establishing the individual as a key ‘go-to’ contact for thought-leading influencers. It is a very dynamic role which offers the potential for growth and development within the role and longer term within the global Scientific Communications organization.

Has a strong Technical Mastery: this is essential as you will need to become fluent in the technology behind our Home Care cleaning brands and initiatives, as well as hygiene regulated and non-regulated territories. This technical understanding will be critical as you work to create Scientific Communications strategies integrated with the business, materials and communicates the science to influencers, and other external bodies.

Can communicate effectively: you will need to create clear, concise and well-organized communication materials and messages (written, oral, visual). Ability to present information both clearly and convincingly to external influencers (e.g. science and news media, as well as medical, academic and professional experts).

Is Creative: you will need to be able to think creatively to develop compelling stories as well as identifying new opportunities for Scientific Communications to drive earned awareness, credibility and build the business.

Is externally in touch: Demonstrate an interest in and have an eye for the external landscape for cleaning products. This includes understanding key trends (Perceived Safety Issues, Sustainability, Hygiene, Citizenship, etc.).

Qualifications

Required:

·  Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or similar field.
·  2-3 years of experience in a communications role (university, company, etc).
·  Ability to travel up to 30 % (combination of domestic/international, once restrictions are lifted).
·  A high level of proficiency in the English language is essential and the candidate must have global skills to be able to communicate across cultures.

Preferred:

·  PhD post gradual doctoral degree in science or communications disciplines.
·  Experience working with hygiene and/or cleaning products/brands in a professional capacity (branding, marketing, scientific, etc).
