Job description

Are you currently studying Product Design or any other creative technology degree? Would you like to use your academic background and creative skills to enable product designs that consumers will love? Do you want to make an impact on products that affect consumers around the world?

Then we have the perfect opportunity for you!

What you can expect:

Our Design Innovation internship programme runs for up to 12 months (normally 1 year), typically starting in July 2024, however we will also consider candidates available for shorter periods. The UK focus for Product Design is at our Innovation Centre in Reading working on our Grooming brands (Gillette & Braun).

What does it take to come up with some of the world’s most well-known brands? Well, a whole lot of design, engineering & science, to start. We are talking big innovations, small bets, ground breaking technology, state-of-the-art prototyping facilities, engineering workshops & labs, micro-scale plants and a team full of inventors to make this happen. During your internship you will work on real projects on some of our most loved brands with work ranging from consumer research and concept generation to prototyping, testing and design development.

Examples of Previous Design Innovation Internship Projects:

· 
Assess and understand consumer, technology, market, online, competitive and IP landscapes to lead the research and concept generation of new products for developing markets.

· 
Use design thinking skills to expand, challenge and broaden a given brief to identify new opportunities, using multiple sources of inspiration to ideate and explore new product concepts bringing forward new consumer, technical or business insights.

· 
Apply engineering principles to bring concepts to life & iteratively develop fully functional razor prototypes using state of the art prototyping capabilities to enable consumer studies and address meaningful technical problems.

Job Qualifications

What we are looking for:  

· 
Students studying a BSC or MSC in Product Design, Industrial Design, Design Engineering or any other ‘Creative Technology’ degree, graduating in 2024 or 2025.

· 
Academic excellence at all stages throughout school and University education with a passion for research and innovation. 

· 
Technical curiosity, creativity, innovation, initiative, communication, leadership and your collaboration skills. 

· 
Evidence of passion and achievements, particularly leadership, in academic and/or non- academic activities, short work experience or internships are a plus. 

· 
Experience/skills in the following: sketching, CAD (NX or Solidworks preferred), rendering, mechanical understanding, prototyping (3D printing & engineering machine workshop) ergonomic understanding, Adobe creative suite, Word, Excel etc.
