Operations Engineer/MS SQL Server DBA - Management

·  Lead and continuously improve end-to-end operational excellence including internal and external resources for the Manufacturing Data Flow Platform Operations team, which is a global team with applications in 4 service lines.

Responsibilities include:

· 
Drives platform change management and “evergreen” strategy.  This includes ensuring the proper versions, patches, and hotfixes are applied to address known issues and capability gaps.

· 
Works with the Platform Architects/DBAs and Application Engineers to ensure designs for specific platforms/applications and their associated SQL DB’s are technically consistent, are leveraging common objects/configurations where possible, are preventing unneeded custom programming, and are properly leveraging the platform components.

· 
Works with the Platform Architects/DBAs to ensure the platform is capable of supporting new solutions or changes to the functionality of existing solutions.  This would include working with Application Engineers to assess performance impacts, data growth impacts, or any other changes that could increase the processing or storage requirements of the SQL DB’s.

· 
Ensures monitoring is in place for the health of the production infrastructure and databases.  Will have ownership for resolution of Incident and Problem tickets related to their specific area of focus.

·  Ensure operational excellence of MDF solutions/applications/platforms, working with different organizations in a multi-vendor setup and in a globally distributed environment
·  Participate in DR drills, IAM tasks, and other recurring activities
·  Support escalation management, coordination with different internal and external parties, drive root cause analysis and corrective actions and improvements after critical incidents
·  Drive automation for intelligent operations
·  Support service transition of new work and platforms (“release to operations”) as receiving organization, ensure process and tools are designed and setup properly, and continuously improved.

Job Qualifications

Technical Skills Required:

·  Microsoft SQL Server and SQL DBA expertise with a strong focus on SQL Always On Availability Groups.  MS SQL Server DBA Certification is a plus but not a formal requirement
·  T-SQL Development (automation, deployment, monitoring, reporting)
·  Core Platform Engineering skills – VM’s, Windows OS, Microsoft .NET Core/Framework
·  Application Database Performance Tuning
·  Data Quality, Security and Compliance
·  Soft Skills:
·  General technical skills and aptitude – the candidate should have strong technical skills and the desire to acquire new ones.  While the role is MS SQL DBA focused, candidate is expected to have broad platform based skills.  Flexibility and a passion for technology integration is a must!
·  Strong written and spoken communications skills – the candidate should be able to effectively communicate with manufacturing site system owners, site IT/OT leaders, key stakeholders as well as vendor resources outside P&G.
·  Problem Solving –Excellent problem-solving skills, with ability to apply analytical and critical thinking to drive technical decisions or solve wicked situations, and – with a sense of urgency – to support troubleshooting in incidents..  This includes responding to support tickets escalated by various vendor support teams.
·  Continually learn and adapt to change – the ability to continually learn and stay on top of new releases and identification of security issues/vulnerabilities is critical to protecting the business and delivering value over time.
·  Teamwork – much of the work requires technical knowledge and multiple touch points outside of the immediate service area. As such, the ability to join efforts with co-workers, vendors and business partners is vital.
·  Execute with excellence, operate with discipline! The candidate is required to self-organize to deliver the work.
·  Strong leadership and collaboration skills.  In this role, you must be able work well in partnership with diverse teams, in different organizations, across different geographic locations, from both P&G, and multiple suppliers. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English is a must, with the ability to translate technical language into business terms.
·  ​ITIL knowledge (ITIL 4 Foundation Certification is desired). Certification in one or more of the following (in addition to ITIL is a plus): SRE Foundation, DevOps Foundation, Azure Fundamentals. Relevant additional certifications can be accomplished in this role
·  The candidate is expected to be highly disciplined and self-organized, to work independently with minimal oversight, and act with true ownership mindset for the assigned platform(s).
·  Preferred - Experience in Master Data Flow (MDF), manufacturing processes, and Proficy
