Job description
We are looking for a candidate to fill a 2 years fixed contract postdoc position to work in the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) facility at P&G's London Innovation Centre in Egham, Surrey. We have state of the art NMR facilities which include 2x Bruker Avance 400MHz instruments with Prodigy liquid N2 probe, solid state, high power diffusion, and HR-MAS accessories.
From here we support the key programs across P&G's businesses in Europe including Personal Health Care, Fine Fragrances, Hair Colour, Laundry, Baby Care and support P&G's global anti-counterfeiting effort. The work is varied and dynamic and the successful applicant will help develop and apply existing and novel approaches to support these businesses.
Specifically, we would want the person to learn/ apply metabonomic approaches to allow us to better understand natural extracts/ botanicals and NMR spectra from complex mixtures, diffusion & relaxation methods to understand the phase of our products and the impact of phase on product performance / stability and to help develop solid state NMR approaches for our business.
The successful candidate will have broad opportunities to interact with the project teams, have access to the full training and coaching available within P&G and gain considerable experience in the fast moving consumer goods business.
Desired profile
Must have:PhD in NMR spectroscopyor PhD in Chemistry with very high content of hands-on NMR spectroscopy. Highly desireable: Practical knowledge of multivariate methods/ NMR based metabomic approaches and/ or practical knowledge of solid state NMR approaches and/ or practical knowledge of application of NMR to understand surfactant phase.
