JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the Marriott International Procurement Team (MIP), the Procurement: Above Property & Cluster Operations will focus on contributing to influencing the sourcing strategy for both food and non-food related commodities as well as developing and managing key vendor contract relationships for Sub Sahara Africa.
The position will be responsible for identifying and developing effective supply chain partnership agreements to reduce cost and improve service conditions for all managed and participating franchise hotels, across all brands. The primary contracting targets will include mining “new and incremental value” from previously unmanaged vendor relationships within the business. The specific key areas of accountability include the following 1) Contracting/Procurement Process 2) Relationship and Vendor Management 3) Data Analysis and Reporting 4) Property and Cluster Support 5) Managing warehousing operation and exports
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
·
Hotel operations experience – preferably F&B and Rooms (5 years plus)
·
Language Requirements: High proficiency (speaking, reading and writing) in English is required.
·
Travel Requirements: Within SSA only.
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
·
Strong knowledge of hotel market in Sub Sahara Africa, primarily South Africa.
·
Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
·
Good analysis skills essential must be able to utilize Excel to a very high level
·
Multi-tasking – ability to work on more than one project is essential
·
Pro-active and reliable
·
Attention to detail
·
Ability to direct and clearly communicate Purchasing Strategy to others
·
Ability to manage hotel budgets for hotel opening supplies (5SU)
·
Strong contracting skills in food & non-food commodities

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Key Responsibilities: Cluster Procurement, Warehousing, exports & New Projects (incl. 5SU)
·
Works with the relevant teams (procurement, operations, chefs councils) to set specifications and standards as needed
·
Identify areas of operation for improved efficiencies, review of standards, process or specifications.
·
Works alongside Group Procurement Manager to organize regular cluster meetings, conduct yield tests
·
Work with Group Procurement Manager, Operations and Culinary Council for product tasting, etc.
·
Negotiates terms and conditions for the provision of Food and Beverage and Non Food products as directed by Operations/ Group Procurement Manager
·
Process, review and manage the warehousing solution (inventory management, invoicing, debtors, stock take)
·
Works with various stakeholders in order to review and support new projects, openings, conversions and 5SU
·
Implement regional strategies set by the Group Procurement Manager
·
Supports development and roll out of Serve 360 initiatives and ensures proper communication to the field.
Data Analysis and Reporting
·
Assist in conducting performance reviews with supplier and drive customer participation in program.
Contracting/Procurement Process
·
Works with Group Procurement Manager to conduct RFPs as necessary and determine best supply chain channel to ensure quality, service, price, product sustainability and diversity vendor opportunities
·
Works with Group Procurement Manager in preparing tendering process protocols, vendor communications, reports, presentations, and detailed spread sheet analysis to conclude a contract
Relationship and Vendor Management
·
Communicates regularly with MI disciplines (customer stakeholders) to gather input on materials, services and potential vendor contracting opportunities and to ensure continuous program improvement
·
Conducts vendor inspections to gain education on process and products
·
Monitors vendors reliability and establishes contact with prospective vendors
Property Support
·
Assists in the support of all affiliated properties across and various business functions across designated continent or countries
·
Supports hotels on day-to-day basis by providing feedback on pricing, specifications, standards, etc.
·
Maintains communications between company – affiliated hotels – continent offices
