JOB SUMMARY
The Head of Retail, GC, will be full ownership of the retail business, driving transformative growth and innovation across online and offline channels. This role requires a strategic thinker who can set strategic direction and execute initiatives that deliver measurable impact. The successful candidate should be an ecommerce and retail expert with a proven understanding of all aspects of online and offline sales channel conversion, including merchandising, promotions, analytics and product capabilities.
This individual contributor role demands someone who is both a big picture strategist and highly detailed oriented, results-driven, and organized, with a commitment to flawless execution. The candidate should possess exceptional business acumen, domain expertise and gravitas to influence at an executive level and collaborate effectively across functions to achieve strategic objectives.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
• Requires a bachelor's degree with at least 15 years of strategic and tactical execution within the eCommerce/Online Retail industry in Greater China
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with a proven track record of launching and scaling new or insurgent business ventures, particularly in fast-changing markets.
• Strong familiarity with third-party marketplaces, e-commerce operations in the hospitality and lifestyle sectors, and a proven ability to manage P&L, trade partnerships.
• Strong technology acumen, with hands-on experience leveraging digital tools, platforms, and innovations to drive business efficiency and competitive advantage.
• Demonstrated professionalship in building, motivating, and guiding high-performing stakeholders through periods of change and rapid growth. Ability to drive owned priorities while partnering in a large organization with several competing resource constraints.
Preferred
• Brand affinity with premium and lifestyle retails
• Ability to identify emerging market opportunities, develop go-to-market strategies, and execute business plans from inception to growth stage.
• Strong familiarity with strategies and tactics driving retail sales through marketplaces and social channels.
• Fluent English and Mandarin (spoken and written)
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
• Strategic Planning and Business Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive online retail strategy that aligns with our brand’s vision and growth objectives.
- Create and manage an annual business plan that includes sales forecasts, budget allocations, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identify new market opportunities and drive the expansion of our online presence in the Greater China region.
• E-commerce Operations and Sales Management:
- Lead digital transformation of retail business
- Manage and analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and execute sales strategies that drive revenue growth and meet or exceed targets.
• Merchandising and Marketing:
- Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling product stories and promotional campaigns that resonate with our target audience.
- Manage the product assortment strategy, ensuring our online offerings are competitive and meet consumer demands.
• Trade Partner Management and Business Acquisition:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, including third-party marketplaces and distributors.
- Identify and secure new trade partnerships that can enhance our brand’s reach and drive additional sales opportunities.
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with trade partners to maximize profitability and market share.
• Brand Awareness and Customer Engagement:
- Drive brand awareness and loyalty through effective online marketing and social media strategies.
- Monitor and adapt to changes in the e-commerce, retail, and marketing environment to serve the organization’s objectives effectively.
• Stakeholders Professionalship and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including product development, marketing, and customer service, to ensure seamless integration of online retail initiatives.
