Catering Sales Manager, Full Time

Opportunity Awaits on the beautiful Island of Hawaii... Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel currently has an opening for a talented Full Time Catering Sales Manager to share the aloha spirit and strive to create a memorable guest experience.

Brief Summary of Job: Responsible for selling facilities and services of the Hotel to meet or exceed budgeted catering department revenue goals while establishing a strong tie with our customers to deliver excellent service on all of the banquet/catering functions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:

·  Providing services that are above and beyond for guest satisfaction and retention.
·  Utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.
·  Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
·  Generating meeting and banquet revenue through solicitation of local, business, conventions, conferences, tour groups and other key accounts.
·  Meeting and or exceeds monthly and annual sales goals.
·  Soliciting new leads for potential event, banquet and conference business.
·  Ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction through all phases of contact from initial inquiry and inception of the event to the liaison and execution by Food & Beverage.
·  Partnering closely with other departments within the Hotel to provide and ensure highest quality service to customers.
·  Effectively and accurately completing all related documents for processing and distribution to all appropriate departments.
·  Compiling and issuing to all operating departments the BEOs for all events at least 7 working days prior the event.
·  Proactive coordination and close monitoring of all events/meetings, from initial booking where possible through to post-event evaluation and account settlement.
·  Remaining flexible in any changes presented by a client in respected to their planned or unplanned activities / functions.
·  Reacting with urgency to any requests of the client to ensure maximum satisfaction during their event/ meeting or conference.
·  Attending to details and follow-up on any requirements of the client in regards to engineering, outside contracts, entertainers, florist, audio visual, freight arrangements (incoming and outgoing), storage facilities, restaurant bookings, additional staffing and any internal or external communication between parties that is necessary.
·  Contribute to the development of Marketing and Sales strategies by being aware of the competition and the social, political, and business climate in the community.
·  Maintaining complete knowledge at all times of: All hotel features/services, hours of operation and all department policies and procedures.
·  Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.
·  Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department, restaurant and hotel.
·  Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Job Requirements


Knowledge/Education/Experience: Proficient in Microsoft applications. At least two (2) years previous catering coordination experience required. Experience in a union environment is preferred but not required. Ability to speak multiple languages preferred. College graduate desirable.

Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: English speaking or bilingual. Ability to make timely, effective decisions. Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work assignments. Ability to maintain good team member relations. Ability to develop and maintain effective guest relations. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Dependable.
