Forster lies in the heart of the Great Lakes District in the mid north coast of NSW. The area abounds with pristine surf beaches, coastal walks, forest trails and lookouts with spectacular panoramic views. The Whoota Whoota lookout has stunning views of the 100kms of coastline from Port Macquarie in the north to Port Stephens in the south. And with so much water around it is no wonder that seafood features heavily in the local restaurants. Wallis Lake Oysters are a particular specialty.
From Forster, enjoy some of the best scenic drives in NSW and explore the vast array of national park wilderness, wineries as well as farmers markets. On the coastal strip, boating, fishing, swimming and surfing are popular in the picturesque towns of Old Bar, Wallabi Point and Crowdy Head.
