GENERAL FUNCTION

Our goal is to use data-driven, scientific methodology and a customer-centric attitude to yield desired results and support Oakley’s best-in-class products. This role is a technician to support the Industrialization engineers in all related subject matter to the products and processes being developed.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Support Industrialization team on transitioning product from initial proof of concept/process through engineering pilots, lab testing and codification
·  Works with engineers to ensure all designs/processes can meet defined technical requirements. This is done by performing routing and tracking of related materials, samples, and test results through the various levels of development.
·  Works on multiple projects simultaneously and utilizes a central task planning system to show progress, results, and priority of the engineering request backlog.
·  Perform engineering pilot builds in related technologies which make lenses and frames
·  Build and test new production fixtures to ensure they work properly
·  Resolve process problems utilizing established problem-solving methods in collaboration with requesting engineers, management, and outside vendors.
·  Run engineering sampling equipment such as the small extrusion line, plaque molder, laser etching machine, lens cutting machines, thin film coating machines, and various paint technologies including hand-spray, pad print, spin and dip.
·  Ensure proper testing of new and existing lenses and eyewear, documentation of results and posting status to the related stakeholders. Will run quality lab equipment and procedures to evaluate engineering pilot samples for preliminary results.
·  Revise and/or support IDZ engineers with current engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
·  Supports the engineering team with all material transfers needs: procurement, shipments, material prep for engineering builds, and ordering of consumable items.
·  Work with down-stream customer teams to aid in continual improvement efforts to existing product performance, processes, production technologies, and methodologies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

·  Must have 2-5 years in related work experience or an Associate Degree in Engineering or Science field.
·  Must be able to demonstrate solid organizational skills and have strong problem solving skills
·  Must be able to understand engineering terminology and basic engineering concepts
·  Ability to collect and analyze information and then communicate this clearly to related associates.
·  Must possess strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency with various instruments and tools
·  Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel
·  Must have strong verbal and written communication proficiency in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
·  Knowledge/experience using related test equipment
·  Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: plastics injection molding, scratch resistance coatings, vacuum coating deposition, CNC machining, or paint deposition experience or knowledge
·  Able to speak additional languages such as Spanish is a plus
·  SAP, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and/or Creo experience is a plus

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
