We are currently seeking an experienced R2R Accountant who will report to the Accounting Manager as part of our small but dynamic team in Amsterdam.
Your opportunity
As part of the Corporate Finance team in Amsterdam, you will be responsible for the Dutch Retail companies for the different brands in scope, managing the day-to-day general accounting activities and verifying the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications according to group and each brand’s process and procedures.
How you will contribute
Responsible for the preparation of month-end reporting, including posting month end journals, preparing prepayments, fixed assets postings and balance sheet reconciliations.
Participate to the full month-end closing process, analysis of results and responding to shared services brand’s representative.
Preparing full set of accounts (PL, BS, CF and Audit Schedules) for the month- and year-end closing with a strong controllership mindset and ensuring that the financials prepared comply to applicable accounting standards (particularly IFRS and Dutch-GAAP).
Preparing of monthly / quarterly VAT returns overview, and liaising with the corresponding tax advisors
Ensuring the compliance of all financial activities and documentation, policies and requirements for local purposes (De Nederlandsche Bank and Central Bureau of Statistics)
Responding and supporting with queries raised by stores or operational teams
Responding to internal and external audit queries
Any other ad-hoc assignments, from time to time
Who you are
Degree in accounting, strong technical and analytical accounting background and/or equivalent knowledge/experience
At least 3 years of experience in industry accounting
Experience in retail / luxury retail business within a finance function would be a plus
Proficient in SAP, Excel,
A problem solver with a strong analytical mindset with a high attention to detail
