About Us: Kawasaki Disease UK:

Kawasaki Disease UK is a charity that supports children with misdiagnosed heart disease that can affect adult life.

We are currently working towards reaching our target for our much need clinical research with efforts on fundraisers and donations for most of this. The Harlow Charity shop is also a crucial part of contributing funds from donated item & designer clothing which is passed directly to Kawasaki Disease UK.

The difference you will make:

A Manager runs the shop but we could not operate without our dedicated teams of volunteers. By donating just a small amount of your time, you could help Kawasaki Disease to continue being there to support families.

What you will be doing:

Pricing up and bar coding items
Accepting donations and processing Gift Aid
Making donated items ready for sale
Ensuring all donated clothing is steam cleaned before displaying in the shop
Displaying items for sale in an attractive manner in the shop
Serving customers at the till and providing great customer service
Keeping the shop clean and tidy
Any other duties requested by the shop manager / team leader.
Some of our volunteers assist with one or two things on the above list, others do a bit of everything depending on what is required. If you can only do some of the above, we would still like to hear from you.

The personal qualities you will need:

Polite and helpful at all times when interacting with customers.
Good at working as part of a team: gets on well with others, happy to help and support other team members.
Opening shop & closing when needed
Admin work on PC
Bloging
Arranging Fundraising Events
Social Media for the Charity
Also able to work independently when the role requires.
Adaptable to change – willing to help with whatever needs doing in the best interests of the shop.
Willing to learn and follow guidance / processes.
Will take the initiative and find things that need doing during quieter periods.
Hard working.
No prior retail experience is required.
The support you will be given:

You will be supervised and supported day-to-day by the shift leader.
You will receive on-going guidance to learn all aspects of the role.
You will become part of a wider team which includes the Head Office based in Brentford, who support Kawasaki Disease UK important work. You will therefore have access to events and communications tailored for volunteers.
