Duties & Responsibilities
We are currently looking for an experienced Footwear Technologist to join our Product Technology and Innovation team in the John Lewis London office on a 12 month contract.
On a daily basis, you will be responsible for but not limited to managing a range of John Lewis own-brand women's footwear, you will be incorporating fittings, conducting product reviews and attending sign-offs.
Please note, some travel to Europian factories may be required as part of this role.
Job Requirements
- Provide expert advice to the business and suppliers to support the delivery of safety, legality, quality and policy requirements
- Work collaboratively with the buying teams to deliver actions
- Manage and implement the technical standards and requirements of John Lewis own-label products (including where appropriate branded and unbranded) at a department level, to support the delivery of market-leading assortments
- Manages all relevant product testing and compliance from raw materials to the final product, at all times.
- Takes the opportunity to specify product that will be market-leading having researched the competition.
- Manage a portfolio of own-label suppliers.
- Champions innovation and pushes the boundaries in product and process.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications
Typically experienced in retail or manufacturing technical/textiles role in footwear, covering:
-Product development
-Product testing
-Supplier engagement
-Fitting
You must have experience working with footwear.
Required desirable experience skills and qualifications
Experience with technical and ethical auditing.
Product Development.
Knowledge of the footwear supply base would be an advantage.
