ABOUT THE JOB
In keeping with IKEA’s mission and values, the Communications Responsible acts as the internal spokesperson at the store level. Your role will involve activating and retaining co-worker engagement through internal campaigns in both in-person and digital formats. Your role will also involve building connections with our local community through events and local media. You are ultimately building commitment and loyalty to the IKEA brand both internally and externally.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT Your tasks will include:

Communications Administration


·  Create, organize, and execute internal employee communication campaigns in order to foster an environment of collaboration and open communication with our Co-workers
·  Maximize opportunities to improve internal communications, including email communications, local store postings on IKEA Inside, bulletin board communications, hallway banners, information to support employee survey initiatives, in-store meetings or announcements (eg. Co-worker of the Month), and the publishing of a local store newsletter/Yammer page.
·  Support internal Human Resources related communications by creating, and distributing or delivering material around the store and in staff meetings
·  Monitor and report on overall Co-worker morale in order to measure effectiveness of employee engagement activities, developing solutions for response
·  Provide Crisis Management support to the store Crisis/Steering team by developing key message statements and Q&A documents in partnership with the Service Office to effectively minimize any potential negative impact on the store and our brand.
·  Act as a spokesperson on an as needed basis on behalf of the Store in areas such as community relations, crisis communication, local media enquiries, elevated customer issues and other internal communication needs.
·  Assist the Store as necessary on the yearly Business Plan, support event coordination, and manage the overall community and fundraising requests.
·  Support IKEA Food Services with the communication and execution of projects that support IKEA’s sustainability initiatives as needed
·  Other related duties, as required Local Marketing

·  Create “attention getting” in-store events to complement the local commercial calendar and capitalize on opportunities to promote traffic to the store and provide a “Fun Day Out” for our customers.
·  Establish and maintain local relationships with national partners (ie. Big Brothers) to support our social and environmental programs.  
YOUR PROFILE Your knowledge, skills and experience include:

·  Post-secondary education (Bachelors, Professional Diploma) in Communications, Public Relations, Human Resources, Event planning/promotions or a similar combination of education and experience is required
·  You have proven leadership skills and management experience in a retail environment.
·  Proven track record of creating and executing employee engagement activities, including communications, and events
·  Strong understanding of confidentiality with the ability to take on a high degree of trust through sensitive situations
·  Ability to work independently and network cross-functionally
·  Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
·  Computer literacy, excellent verbal and written communications skills understanding the nuances of situation and tone (writing samples will be requested)
·  Proven strategic planning and analytical ability.
·  Strong communication skills to ensure positive co-worker, media and community relations.
·  Participate in the Store Support Manager function in order to ensure the health & safety of our co-workers and provide a positive customer experience
·  Weekend and evening Store Support Manager shifts are required for this role
·  Familiarity with website, Adobe, Photoshop or similar type programs and interfaces is an asset
·  Prior experience with Employee engagement in an HR setting is an asset
·  Prior experience with Event planning and promotion is an asset  
YOUR WORKPLACE

·  High volume, fast-paced retail environment
·  You will be required to be on call for any store crisis situation that would require drafting of key messages and Q&A documents. YOUR BUSINESS PARTNERS

·  Report to: Human Resources Manager
·  Matrix: Store Steering Group, Service Office Corporate Communications, PR, sustainability and marketing functions.
·  Supervises: Will oversee outside suppliers including local charities, printers, local events suppliers, etc.
