About the Role

We're looking for an exceptional and energetic General Manager to lead StandardX Melbourne—someone who thrives on individuality, challenges convention, and knows how to turn bold ideas into outstanding results.

This role goes beyond operations. It's about setting the tone, shaping culture, and leading an experience that feels considered, distinctive and unmistakably StandardX. You'll inspire your team, raise the bar on the guest journey, and ensure the hotel performs strongly across commercial, operational, and people metrics—without ever losing its edge.

Part of the World of Hyatt, you will work closely with your leadership team and Hyatt partners, you'll shape an environment that is creatively ambitious, commercially savvy, and deeply connected to its neighbourhood. You'll be as comfortable talking culture, music, food and local energy as you are talking numbers and know how to bring both together in practice.

What you'll do:

Champion the StandardX and Hyatt brand experience, driving guest preference and loyalty

Not by following playbooks, by bringing the brand to life in ways that feel current, local and human

·
Lead revenue growth and market share in partnership with revenue specialists

·
Deliver and own strong financial performance through smart, considered decision making and disciplined cost and payroll management

·
Build, coach, and mentor high-performing teams—developing talent for today and tomorrow and creating a workplace where individuality is valued and people genuinely want to show up

Live and lead Hyatt's purpose of caring for people to be their best, while embodying The Standard's values every day

Desired profile

Qualifications :

· 
Proven experience as a General Manager or senior hotel leader, ideally within a lifestyle, boutique or culture-led hospitality environment

· 
A confident, inspiring leadership style with a strong people-first mindset

· 
You lead from the floor as comfortably as the boardroom

· 
Exceptional relationship-building skills across owners, partners, guests, and teams

· 
Commercial acumen with a track record of delivering financial, guest, and colleague results

· 
Strong experience collaborating with revenue specialists to win in competitive markets

· 
Deep understanding of the local Melbourne market and its cultural pulse and an instinct for what makes a neighbourhood feel alive
