We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Steward to join and manage our Stewarding team.

The Role:
Reporting to the Stewarding Operations Manager and Executive Chef, you will help ensure the efficient and hygienic operation of the Stewarding department. You will motivate and develop junior stewarding team members, by providing extensive training and ensuring our cleanliness standard exceeds HACCP and food safety regulations. You will work closely with the Culinary and Food & Beverage team on making sure the hotel continually maintains and delivers all hygiene standards, adopting productive cost control measures and contribute to maximising guest satisfaction.
This can be a great platform for someone working in the Stewarding space to step up, or someone with an operations background looking to expand their remit in the industry.
Additional role responsibilities include:

Ensures that the correct procedures are followed for the use of the dishwashing machine and the storage of china, glassware and silver.

Conducts half-yearly inventories of all operating equipment, getting hands on with equipment assessment to maintain accuracy.

Ensures sufficient levels of stock are maintained of all chemicals, cleaning products and other working tools and measures their effective use.

Responsible for the training of Chefs and stewarding team on the chemical cleaning requirements.
·
Controls the requisitioning, storage and careful use of all operating equipment and supplies, getting involved in physical inventory and distribution tasks.

Ensures that all employees (in-house and agency) in the Stewarding department maintain a consistently high level of professional appearance, leading by example in uniform upkeep and hygiene.
Our Ideal Candidate will possess:

Previous leadership experience in a similar role or strong operations background– in hotel setting highly regarded
·
Previous experience working in a large operation
·
Excellent knowledge of HACCP standards, hygiene practices and WHS regulations
·
Strong leadership and team management skills
·
Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
·
Highly organised and detail oriented
·
Excellent communication skills
·
Full valid Australian working rights
