Role Purpose
Overall Summary of the Job:
·         Reporting to the Global Head of Change Delivery and Industry Initiatives, Clearing and Collateral Services group (CCS), the Manager will lead a mature team of Project Managers and Business Analysts taking overall ownership for all projects and programs in the UK region for OTC Clearing, OTC Collateral and Futures business lines.  Projects managed end-to-end by the team are often global and of regulatory, mandatory, strategic, and semi-strategic in nature.  The role is aligned to the business and the candidate will also manage large, bank-wide programs his/herself
·         The candidate must have a sound track record of Change Delivery and experience in leading teams through change lifecycles.  The ideal candidate will have experience in Collateral Management, Futures and Clearing and have hands on experience in delivering large-scale strategic projects with multiple stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
·         Manage a team of high-performing Change professionals across Clearing, Futures and Collateral functions.  Including 1:1s, performance management, coaching, escalation, capacity management etc
·         Manage impact of change globally and directly influence projects across the EMEA region.
·         Manage regulatory projects
·         Manage strategic roadmaps
·         Oversee the tasks, risks, issues, dependencies of all projects managed by the team.  Report and escalate issues and risks appropriately to senior management
·         Improve project management practices across Clearing, Futures and Collateral Change
·         Work closely with Global and Regional Heads of Collateral Management and Futures & Clearing Operations to capture business requirements in support of new business initiatives in addition to required systems enhancements. 
·         Build technology partnerships to ensure business requirements and delivery milestones are clearly articulated, understood and tracked
·         Work with IT architects in CCS and various businesses to make sure change is delivered in synch with business and system strategy
·         Participate and contribute to numerous Steering.
·         Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Leadership & Teamwork

Ability to lead a team and work effectively within the global change team and build effective relationships with the Ops Line team, trading and IT counterparts
The successful candidate will be required to manage within a defined matrix structure
Ability to work with other senior Project Managers within the team and staff at all levels; to work with SMEs but also present to Senior Mgmt
Support the relationship with key vendors to ensure effective delivery
 
Operational Effectiveness & Control

Collateral / OTC knowledge is essential
Strong relationship building skills – to build and maintain effective relationships with both internal stakeholders and external vendors
Ability to own and deliver programmes from inception to post implementation review
Global perspective
Strong Change management skills gained through at least 2 years dedicated change experience preferably in a similar environment
Good understanding of regulatory and commercial environment
Excellent communication, escalation and issue management skills
 
Major Challenges

Regulatory changes around Collateral, valuations and wider balance sheet implications for OTC uncleared products
Sensitive internal business relationships requiring vigilance and precision to maximise benefit of the bank’s investment
 
Role Context

The successful candidate needs ensure delivery remains consistent across all workstreams – including those where direct ownership is not part of mandate.
All aspects across the people, process and technology dimensions need to be considered to ensure that change is effectively delivered into the organisation.
The candidate must have excellent relationship building skills and considerable experience working with external vendors along with an ability to manage sensitive relationships.
 
Management of Risk

Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
The candidate needs to understand
Knowledge of credit, risk and Collateral controls
Cross product OTC knowledge
Large scale change within a complex operating environment
Front to back process improvement and the need for stakeholder engagement & management
Preferred but not essential
Prior experience of systems implementation
Understanding of Trading lifecycle for OTC Derivative products
Operational risk requirements around generic practices such as payments
 
Observation of Internal Controls
·         Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
·         Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
·         Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
·         Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Adheres to internal Governance policies and sign off procedures in line with best practice and audit requirements
 
Role Dimensions

The role will need to manage projects to a pre-defined budget. All external spend will be authorised by the Global Head of Collateral Operations and the Global Head of Clearing Operations.

Very strong investigative skills
Ideally holding a formal project qualification, for example Six Sigma or Prince2
Strong commercial awareness

Good understanding of operational risk
Excellent relationship building skills with both internal and external stakeholders
Very strong communication, escalation and issue management skills.
Operations experience at a top tier broker or Investment Bank
OTC product knowledge
Operations knowledge is prefered but not a prerequisite requirement.
