Senior Solutions Analyst

Job description

The Senior Solutions Analyst role is based within the Group Finance Data Strategy and Architecture team, working with team members across the HSBC Group in a wide number of geographies.
 
The role of the Senior Solutions Analyst is to refine and directly influence complex business requirements, translating these into IT requirements which enable rapid delivery to market, creating a range of solutions with recommendations based on: functional fit, project cost profile, Future State Architecture and other Group Finance initiatives.
 
The department operates group wide and globally within the organisation across different time zones and cultures. This role covers mandatory reporting and the use of big data within this. Key technologies include Hadoop, Platfora. This role could lead to architecture roles such as solutions or data architect. There will be the need to travel to London at least monthly with overnight stays possible.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
Working throughout the project lifecycle, influencing solution direction as appropriate and gaining engagement for solutions through effective presentation.
Assessing the viability of new requests and provide proposals (Clear Choices) and solutions (Solutions Proposal) to the business that meet business requirements, align with IT strategy and maximise reuse opportunities.
Looking at opportunities to reduce the complexity of the IT enterprise and reduction in Run The Bank costs.
Taking a lead in planning, designing and running Proof of Concepts with Business, Technical, Change Delivery and Architecture representatives.
Provide business driven IT consultancy, giving information about potential technology solutions, costs and timescales to enable the business management team to make informed choices about their investments in IT.
Working alongside Change Delivery, Group Architecture and the business to understand their key drivers and metrics to better assess the potential for IT solutions or changes to enhance the business and advise relevant IT teams of the potential for future projects.

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Regulatory/Statutory Reporting
Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Finance
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Hortonworks, PowerPoint, Word, Visio
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. Availability to undertake travel to London on a monthly basis is required, this may become more frequent and extend to up to 3 days a week for short periods of time as part of Project Initiation.
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Systems Analyst is desirable but not essential
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Platfora, Excel is desirable but not essential
A track record of delivering significant change which improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways
Experience of supporting others' performance, enabling them to achieve by providing clear direction, motivation and support
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same 
Experience of making prompt and practical business decision, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes
Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
Proven experience of successful project management, utilising relevant tools and techniques to ensure consistent delivery
The base location for this role is Sheffield.
