Job description

Role Purpose
·         Responsible for developing HSBC Now global TV content and production in order to continue the development of an award-winning global news channel, demonstrating alignment with the Group’s strategy and values. The role holder will be responsible for sourcing innovative content from HSBC’s designated regions and Global Businesses.
 
Principal Accountabilities:

Impact on the Business
·         Increase employee awareness and understanding of Global Businesses, Functions and HSBC regions through video storytelling.
·         Develop understanding of HSBC’s strategy and footprint, opportunities and challenges through real-life stories or examples that bring these topics to life.
·         Increase awareness of the global community of HSBC by showcasing employee philanthropic trends, achievements (business and personal) and stories of interest.
·         Set the global standard for video production within HSBC by acting as advisor to other departments engaging in video production and contributing to editorial meetings with agency supplier and sister-programmes HSBC NOW UK and HSBC NOW Asia
 
Customers / Stakeholders
·         The Producer’s customers are the Bank’s entire employee network.
·         The Producer will partner with assigned key Business areas and regions in order to source relevant and timely content for the programme.
 
Leadership & Teamwork
·         The Producer will work closely with the Bank’s network of communications employees and business contacts, as well as the filming agency. Key activities include:
·         Drive editorial meetings with communications colleagues from Global Businesses and HSBC regions to source new content ideas.
·         Provide guidance to communications colleagues globally to ensure consistent standards on the HSBC NOW storytelling technique and quality of content.
·         Manage external agency to maintain editorial and technical production standards.
·         Write story briefs which provide the agency with a clear angle/ approach for stories.
·         Attend location shoots globally to manage all aspects of filming including managing off-camera interviews with contributors, choosing locations for filming and making key decisions on the ground.
·         Manage the editing process including providing guidance to the agency on content to be included in the first cut, providing feedback on initial edits and managing the sign off on final edits.
·         Responsible for all aspects of programme delivery, including managing sign-off of final compile with Editor and Managing Editor; and working with the Production Co-ordinator to oversee programme marketing and ensure smooth publishing process.
·         Support Social Media Producer in development and delivery of social media activity relating to particular content produced.
 
Operational Effectiveness & Control
·         Submit regular cost projections into the annual budget planner governed by the Managing Editor
·         Work with external agency to identify potential cost savings.
·         Collaborate with the News team to identify and produce multi-platform content fit for external
·         Contribute to a culture of innovation by sourcing original content and proposing new story-telling formats.
 
Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder’s abilities)
The key challenges for this role include:
·         Working at speed and with accuracy to deliver timely and relevant content for a weekly output.
·         Working independently to manage high profile features and video content for global campaigns.
·         Working with colleagues at all levels across the bank including Global CEO and Senior Executives
·         Developing a strong and relevant network across Businesses and Communications to enable a steady flow of relevant content into the News Team.
·         The ability to quickly assimilate and translate complex and often technical terminology from across the bank.
 
Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority)
·         The Producer will report into the Editor and ultimately Managing Editor of the programme, however they are expected to work independently and to manage and lead on high profile features and video content for global campaigns.
 
Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)
·         Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
 
Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)
·         Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
·         Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Desired profile

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
·         Proven ability to lead video communication briefs from concept through to delivery.
·         Journalism experience an advantage, with a good nose for a story.
·         Understanding of the marcoms-mix including digital and employee communications.
·         Experience of working across a broad range of communicatons channels is an advantage.
·         Experience of working in a financial services business environment or multinational organisation.
·         Evidence of project management, managing large scale and complex campaigns.
·         Excellent writing, proof-writing and editing skills.
·         Highly organised, with the ability to manage film crews and filming schedules.
·         Has a keen eye for detail, and a passion for quality.
·         Ablity to plan, prioritse and to escalate where necessary.
·         Ability to manage budgets.
·         Ability to manage changing priorities with flexibility and calm.
·         Excellent influencing and negotiating skills with strong stakeholder management skills.
