Role Title: Market Data Vendor Manager

Role Purpose:
Market Data Vendor Manager with a major focus on managing all contractual requirements relating to Buy and Sell-side
- for the provision of Market Data as part of a wider Market Data team. The candidate will be in a customer facing role and will need to manage and deliver customer requirements through:
 
·         Working closely with the business to understand the requirements and advise on best options available
·         Discovery and subsequent on boarding of existing Market Data & Client Data services
·         Vendor Management and contract negotiation ensuring the bank obtains the most cost effective market data & Ccient data services to meet business requirements
·         Chairing quarterly strategic Vendor meetings.
 
Responsibilities include:
 
Business Relationship Management – maintain a strong relationship with the customer, understanding their business, focus and requirement and providing the optimum solution within defined timescales.
 
Cost Management – ensure the business is kept aware of their market data usage / cost to ascertain potential cost saving opportunities, through effective negotiation with vendors.
 
Vendor Management – working within the agreed operating model together with the global vendor management team, ensuring all market data and client data contracts are negotiated, renewed or cancelled through the detailed analysis of usage, requirement and contract value. Ensure all signed contracts are updated in MDM.
 
Control – manage data use from a compliance perspective ensuring all contractual obligations and licenses are adhered to and communicated to the business with effective operational control processes in place
 
Key Accountabilities:
Management of Market Data Provision
·         Front to back management of all vendor contracts
·         Awareness of pricing models and typical restrictions imposed by all vendors
·         Regular meetings with the business to understand requirements, define timescales and communicate project milestones.
·         Promote where relevant licensing restrictions on contracts communicating compliance of usage and impacts of any potential breaches
·         Communication where relevant of Group policies and processes relating to procurement and vendor risk management as set out in the Operations FIM
·         Ensuring that HSBC leverages it’s global purchasing power through global coordination
·         Negotiation of new agreements and renewals in line with business requirements
·         Ensuring that details of the global deals are communicated to all participating sites
·         Identifying and communicating suitable sources of data leveraging existing agreements/relationships wherever possible and ensuring internal clients are aware of all options and how their decisions impact market data strategy over all
·         Evaluate and recommend products and services to meet user requirements, including manage demos and trials of new products/services of interest
 
Management of Risk:
Responsible for the continual assessment of operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.
 
Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Bank plc Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.
 
Observation of Internal Controls:
Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
 
Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC Bank plc internal controls and compliance policies and manuals.

Desired profile

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:
·         Extensive knowledge of Market Data products, Client Data and MDM
·         Broad understanding of data licensing requirements.
·         Highly motivated to develop specialist knowledge and expertise in all relevant areas
·         Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to work in line with wider strategies
·         Excellent communications skills both written and verbal for discussions and communication at all levels
·         Good understanding of the commercial terms and conditions of the major market data vendors
·         Substantial Market Data Analyst experience
·         Experienced in Market Data Sourcing with expert knowledge of market data purchasing practices and processes
·         Ability to complete discovery and analysis within a predefined timescale.
