Role Title: Market Data Analyst

Role Purpose
· Market Data Business Analyst with a major focus on managing all business requirements relating to Global Banking & Markets for the provision of market data as part of a wider Market Data team. The team works closely with a number of business units to provide an efficient, timely and cost effective solution to meet market data needs and requirements. The candidate will be in a business facing role and will need to manage and deliver business requirements through working closely with the business to understand the requirements and advise on the most cost efficient options available in accordance with vendor licensing and commercial policy.
· Business Relationship Management – maintain a strong relationship with the business, understanding their business, focusses, strategy and requirements to be able to propose effective and cost efficient vendor based solutions.
· Cost Management – through effective negotiation with vendors or through consolidation and sharing
· Vendor Management – working within the agreed operating model together and in line with the Procurement FIM and the global market data vendor management team to negotiate terms and commercials with vendors
· Projects – support and advise on major client driven projects which require the procurement of market data solutions
· Control –ensure contractual obligations and licensing terms are adhered to and communicated to the business with effective operational control processes in place and that any potential breaches are detected and reported early in order to monitor to resolution
Key Accountabilities
Impact on the Business
· Provide quotes and obtain business authorisation for all new service requests as per SLA
· Responsible for the integrity of data within MDM for allocated business unit
· Evaluate and recommend products and services to meet user requirements, including management of demos and trials of new products/services
· Procure all new services and meet contractual requirements (via vendor, DACS and/or IT Services)
· Participate in cost saving reviews as and when required
Customers / Stakeholders
· Global Banking and Markets (EMEA)
Leadership & Teamwork
· Work closely with local and global MDS teams as well as MD infrastructure teams
· Negotiate commercials for smaller regional contracts
Operational Effectiveness & Control
· Liaise with business regarding service cancellation /reallocation
· Establish contractual obligations, note financial implications i.e. impact to other users / businesses and action removals as required (via vendor, DACS or IT Services)
Major Challenges
· Ensure database integrity for all contracts / renewal costs and tracking accuracy
· Track savings and avoidances to highlight variances in budget vs actual
· Manage monthly reports to enable cost centre managers to review current expenditure
· Maintain control and integrity of MDS inventory in conjunction with the offshore Market Data Processing Team
· Facilitate management of budgets and input into forecasting
Role Context
· Responsible for the relationship between the business and Market Data Services and part of the Global Data Services (GDS) Market Data Team providing business analysis, vendor relationship and contract management for all HSBC's market data vendors for allocated business area
· Manage Market Data BAU requirements/activities
Role Dimensions
· Participate in the management and preparation of the budget for Global Banking and Markets
· EMEA user base approximately 1,000 with a spend in excess of £24m (pa)

· Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Observation of Internal Controls
· Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
· Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Desired profile
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
· Strong market data analysis - experience and knowledge of a wide range of market data vendors and
· services
· Extensive knowledge and experience of Market data tools such as MDM, RPM and DACS
· Confidence in vendor management and knowledge of market data purchasing, contract admin process
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Team player
· Highly motivated to develop specialist knowledge and expertise in all relevant areas
· Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to work inline with wider strategies
· Good understanding of the commercial terms and conditions of the major market data vendors
· Advanced Excel skills
· Substantial Market Data Analyst experience
