About HSBC Operations, Services & Technology

HSBC Operations, Services and Technology (HOST) provides essential operational services, IT and technical support to help HSBC function effectively and improve our customer service. HOST is made up of Global Operations, IT, COO Office, Corporate Real Estate and Global Procurement. Developing, implementing and supporting software and IT services and processes that allow HSBC to remain at the forefront of high-quality banking systems. Working across a range of technology platforms and development disciplines, from mainframe to mobile technologies.

Global Banking & Market Technology – Equities Technology

HSBC Equities IT team is staffed with talented, experienced and effective IT professionals and is in the process of expansion to meet the challenge of developing and expanding the global platform. There are a number of initiatives to bring new business flows onto the global platform as well as a series of far reaching enhancements to meet the growing business demand.

As part of the North American Equities IT team – You will be working within a highly energetic, specialized team on the Cash Execution platforms. This role will provide you will have the invaluable opportunity to learn about how Technology can “create value” through innovative engineering that provides competitive advantage.

A Day in the Life of a Product Analyst include the following:

· This role will is for a Product Analyst who will have the unique experience of working across a variety of roles including: support, business analysis and development.
· The initial focus will be geared towards learning how Cash Equities Trading works and the front to back technology required to support it.
· This person will work closely with the Trading Desk, Developers and Business Analysts to ensure product stability as well as designing/testing new feature changes.
Principle Accountabilities:
· Document and track defects, and perform test coverage analysis
· Candidate will leverage computer science background to focus on reducing manual testing cycles time and increase automation coverage across the Americas Equities trading software.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

·  Experience with programming skills preferably in Java
·  Linux/Unix command line and scripting knowledge a plus
·  Curious mindset, with a desire to learn
·  Self-starter who is motivated, responsible, and a clear communicator.
·  A real inclination for test-driven development
Preference will be given to students who are available for an 8-month work term (May – December), however those available for a 4-month work term will be taken into consideration.
