Job description

The Inter Company Manager role is based within UK Chief Accounting Officer Team. The department is responsible for the ledger close and financial reporting of the UK Bank. The Bank conducts a broad range of Retail and GBM activities. The Bank comprises a large and complex part of both the HBEU and HSBC Group consolidated financial statements.
 
The role holder’s primary responsibility is to manage the production of financial accounting information for HSBC Bank plc. on a monthly and quarterly basis.  This also involves interaction with business Financial Controllers of other group companies, based both in the UK and overseas to fully understand intercompany transactions and ensure the accuracy of the Bank's financial reporting. The role holder works closely with their colleagues in the GFC, Gurgaon, and with other central finance teams responsible for External Reporting and Regulatory Reporting.
 
This role provides an opportunity to gain knowledge of how the balance sheet and P&L works. Differences due to mismatches in Inter Company transactions has been highlighted as key area by the Senior management and often give a person exposure to various stakeholder like Product Control, Other entity contacts. The role helps to improve the accuracy of the financial information published by HSBC Bank Plc. Main systems involved are FTP, RRS and Saracen.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
Ensure monthly Inter Company P&L and BS is produced and submitted to agreed deadlines.
Ensure intercompany matching and reconciliation is done within agreed Group limits.
To provide advice and guidance to the business, finance and other areas of HSBC Bank plc on the appropriate accounting treatment of intercompany transactions
To assist in maintaining key controls over intercompany financial reporting and be a point of contact for all intercompany related issues.
Working closely with colleagues within our Global Finance Centre.
Production of ad hoc financial information related to Inter Company transactions and manage the change in light of changes in system and regulatory requirements.

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Finance
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Excel
Availability to work the shift pattern required for this role, i.e. The normal office timing would be 9 to 5 but there could be longer days around quarterly/half yearly/yearly reporting.
Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Qualified accountant is essential.
Past working experience on relevant systems, i.e. FTP is desirable but not essential
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Microsoft Access, Hyperion and Macros is desirable but not essential
An open, flexible and supportive approach to change and innovation
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Worked collaboratively with other colleagues, supporting them when possible
Experience of planning and prioritising their own time effectively, aware of their responsibilities and committed to delivering these efficiently
Supported project teams/managers, showing an understanding of the basic principles of project management
A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will be having knowledge of accounting and good command in excel. He should also be able to join the dots to see at the big picture/end result.
 
The base location for this role is London.
