HSBC Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme – Commercial Banking (Risk Control)
The Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme is a programme organised by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR for Hong Kong residents who have recently been awarded a bachelor’s degree or above. It aims to provide practical on-the-job work experience, mobility to work in the Greater Bay Area, and the opportunity to develop and grow a professional network.
Programme Overview
· Duration: 18 months’ full-time employment, with join bank date on or before 31 December 2024
· Work Location: Hong Kong, and a minimum of 12 months in Guangzhou

Commercial Banking has a network that covers three-quarters of global trade flows. We provide businesses with banking services in their home markets and overseas. These include trade and receivables finance, global payments solutions, multi-currency accounts, commercial cards, overdrafts, working capital finance, insurance, term loans and syndicated, leveraged, acquisition and project finance.
Principal Responsibilities
· Manage CDD controls for BB segment, balancing risk management, business need as well as operational efficiency, through participating in ongoing review and discussion of CDD procedures, documentation, staying alert and escalating any control gaps identified. Manage logging of FCR related escalation in a timely manner, track to completion.
· Maintain an in-depth understanding of financial crime risk through continuous learning. Support development and implementation of future-fit risk management frameworks.
· Prepare periodic MI reports to facilitate the management review for taking appropriate actions, including NFR dashboard or presentation for BB in governance forums. Assist to manage projects related data/ planning and report to senior management / risk stewards. Drive automation of MI and regular tasks to free up time for advanced analytics
· Support the delivery of priorities and strategy for Business Banking. Increasing understanding of HSBC’s change execution risk profile in Business Banking and supporting proactive management of issues so that change is delivered safely and sustainably.
Requirements
· Be available to start full-time employment no later than the end of December 2024
· Hold a bachelor’s degree or above, of any study discipline, awarded by a Hong Kong or an overseas university / tertiary institution in 2022 or 2023; or graduating in 2024
· Be a Hong Kong resident who is lawfully employable in Hong Kong
· Be fluent in written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin
· Possess strong communication skills and be able to collaborate with others effectively
· Have solid PC skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Additional PC skills in Excel (Macro), Access and Project would be advantageous
Learning, development and support
Over the course of the placement, you’ll gain experience and insight in Commercial Banking. You will receive a combination of on-the-job practical experience, project-based work and functional exposure, and be encouraged to learn, ask questions, take on some responsibilities and develop your professional network.
Upon successful completion of the 18-month Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme, you’ll have the opportunity to be considered for a permanent role at HSBC.
