Role Purpose / Key Accountabilities:
The objective of the Strategy Analyst Team is to improve Global Markets's efficiency and profitability through different angles.
The team partner with the businesses (asset-classes, regions, sales) and can perform reviews of the booking model, businesses or growth initiatives from a financial angle perspective (Revenues, Costs, Financial Resources), as well as undertake clients' returns analysis
The advertised role will sit within this team. To work with the Chief of Staff, Global Markets with insight and in-depth analysis and liaises with functions and businesses to enable a robust financial understanding of business opportunities.
This will support the strategy and strategic decisions taken by the GM Exco

Main missions:
The role is strongly analytical with the purpose of support strategic decisions to continuously improve Global Markets profitability.
• Work in partnership with the Finance and business CFO teams, various functions, businesses and business managers to support the Chief of Staff and senior leaders in setting strategy by providing analytics and informed views on quantitative impacts of initiatives.
• Understanding the complex relationships and interdependencies in all Global Markets businesses and in regulatory and financial measures. Communicate these in an easily digestible way.
• Proactively, in cooperation with businesses but also independently identify, analyse and present current issues in strategies' implementation. Engaging with stakeholders across the Global Businesses and COO teams.
• Take into account future business, client behaviour and regulatory changes and challenges for Global Markets and quantify impacts in cooperation with the businesses effected.
• Improve financial performance of Global Markets. Design and perform quantitative analysis in cooperation with Treasury, Finance and businesses.

Management of Risk:
• Each employee must be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
• Each employee must ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.

Observation of Internal Controls
• Each employee must maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Any failures to comply with the above should be reflected in year end performance assessments.
• Each employee must understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

• Experience with Financial Markets and basic knowledge of Financial products
• Continually acquiring knowledge of products and businesses
• Ability to digest large amounts of information and identifying the key points
• Good knowledge of Power Point, Excel
• Remains up to date on changes affecting the market place and the business.
• Has the ability to build and maintain a network of relevant contacts across all product areas and disciplines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence others
• Very strong analytical and excellent presentation skills
• Maintain positive and productive working relationships, promotes collaborative teamwork.
• Treat everyone with dignity, honesty and respect. Show high levels of self-awareness, understand impact of own behaviour on others and upholds the highest standards of company values/practice.
• Ability to quickly understand problems, articulate them and offer solutions
• Demonstrates cultural awareness
• Experience with databases (PLS, SQL) and or programming (Python, VBA) is a positive
• Experience in accounting and/or bank regulation reporting is a positive
