General Role Purpose

The role holder is expected to facilitate the maintenance of an effective operational risk and control environment via the execution of the Risk and Control Assessment (RCA) process, provide inputs for identification of relevant risks through Thematic Reviews and ensure adherence to the Incident Management process to enable timely Reporting. The role holder would be required to provide co-ordination and expertise to the WPB business teams on all aspects of operational risks including audits and work closely with Risk & Control teams across DBS and other Global Businesses and Functions focused on the main Non-Financial Risks.

 

Responsibilities

·         Ensure that WPB country has a robust and compliant Business Risk Control Management capability within ‘First Line of Defence’ aligned to the Global model.

·         Implement and maintain effective Risk & Control framework, which adds value to the WPB business.

·         Support WPB teams in adherence to both internal and external directives from ‘Second Line of Defence’ including but not limited to Compliance, Operational Risk, Information Security Risk, Business Continuity functions.

·         Assess and report on the adequacy of operational risk and control environment.

·         Ensure that the country WPB team implements compliance policies and procedures in respect of WPB business, including Non-Financial Risks programs as well as regulatory projects (including NFRO, Global Standards, etc).

·         Thematic Reviews in order to ensure appropriate control environment and active risk management

·         Ensure that resources and infrastructure are adequate to support the management of Risk & Control capability throughout the Region.

·         Build networks within WPB and across functions to provide expertise and implement Risk & Control capability

·         Ensure adherence to Group Standards, Regulatory and Group Audit requirements

·         Ensure effectiveness of Operational Risk frameworks throughout the region/country via robust Risk Control Assessments, operational processes and internal controls.

·         Maintain robust controls that operate effectively and are regularly tested.

·         Ensure full control testing Programme is in place in countries and that they are robust and fit for purpose.

·         Review and process dispensation requests from countries that pertain to the management of operational risk.

·         Effective use of Ops Risk tools (including Helios, Aramis, Archer, EIM, Comet, Melody, Qlik Sense, etc), Key Indicators and Dashboard, MSIIs and Audit Database to mitigate risks.

·         Ensure that countries maintain cost discipline, rationalize and consolidate risk expense.

·         Good understanding of operational risk and controls, preferably gained through experience in front line and risk roles

·         Ability to perform Thematic or Audit reviews

·         Good understanding of the Group’s Operational Risk Framework

·         Knowledge of the changing regulatory environment especially in the financial services sector

·         Leadership, management and coaching skills

·         Proven problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions

·         Highly developed communication, presentation and influencing skills set

·         Ability to prioritize and work independently under pressure within a team environment

·         Ability to use strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve complex problems whilst adhering to timelines and quality of output.

·         Familiarity with the Non-Financial Risk

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Proven project and risk management capabilities with a focus on resolving complex problems

·         Effective team and matrix management skills in multi-cultural environments

·         Working knowledge of applicable security/risk concepts and methodologies

·         Organised and autonomous

·          

·         A sound knowledge of the Group and the WPB business, including products, services, systems & processes.

·         Business experience in a variety of roles centred on delivery of high quality customer service.

·         Exposure to an operations and a control environment, such as audit or compliance.
