Job description
The Data Modeller role sits within HSBC's Commercial Banking (CMB) Data & Analytics Team.
Commercial Banking (CMB) Data & Analytics IT is responsible for both the definition of general data management principles/best practices for the rest of CMB IT to follow and the provision of Core Data Services for consumption by CMB business.
Current departmental projects include, amongst many others, Trade Transformation, Customer Experience and Sales Development, analytical reporting in a Big Data environment, moving to cloud technology etc,.

This role is concerned with a multi-year programme of work to create a Universal Data Model.
The Data Modeller will provide Data Management Consultancy.
Key Responsibilities:
· Creating Conceptual models to aid understanding of business data with stakeholders,
· Refine and enhance the Universal Data Model (UDM),
· Create Logical models and guide development teams to deliver physical underlying structures,
· Create Data flow diagrams and data mappings as and when required. Ensure these artefacts are aligned with group standards, IT and business strategy, meet business objectives and satisfy all relevant regulatory and operational risk controls.
Additional responsibilities include:
· Rapidly understanding business requirements through regular interactions with the CMB Chief Data Office (CDO), business users and other subject matter experts.
· Translation of business requirements into solution designs and functional requirements.
· Communication of functional solutions to the development team plus ongoing support of the developers as needed.
· Working closely with the production support team to ensure all new software is well understood and readily supported.
Desired profile
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate will have the below experience and qualifications:
· Previous experience as a Data Analyst, Solutions Analyst or Architect including delivery of data artefacts e.g. data models, data flow diagrams & metadata would be beneficial,
· Proven Logical Data Modelling skills; delivering artefacts and adhering to required governance standards,
· Experience in managing and resolving complex issues using proven analytical and problem solving skills,
· Commercial acumen and ability to apply this to Business and IT data requirements,
· Good spoken and written communication skills. A strong ability to communicate virtually e.g. conference calls and video conferencing,
· Self-awareness and with the confidence to work independently,
· Basic understanding of Financial Services and specifically within data domains / functions (e.g. Data Management, Data Architecture, Data Governance),
· Working knowledge of relevant tools e.g. IBM Info Sphere Data Architect or CA Erwin Data Modeller.
