Job description

The Data Centre Floor Controller role sits within the Data Centre Floor Management team within HSBC operations Services and Technology and reports to the Data Centre Floor Manager.

The role is to assist with the governance and policing of Data Centre floors.

Your responsibilities will include:

Day to day governance & accountability of whitespace operations at the Wakefield Global Data Centre.

·
Management & policing of all IT equipment installs, moves and decommissions.

·
Protecting services by enforcing data hall access.

·
Ensuring efficient utilisation of Data Centre space, power & cooling.

·
Assisting with the management of delivering power, cooling and space associated with the installation of hardware

·
Liaison with internal stakeholders to ensure customer expectations are met.

·
Responsibility for inward / outward of materials, manage stock control, performing floor audits and provide management with effective MI.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:

·  Demonstrable experience of installation, migration and demise of IT equipment within Data Centres
·  Understanding of underpinning M&E relating to critical facilities (UPS, generators, RPPs etc)
·  Awareness of service management techniques including Problem, Change and Incident management
·  Understanding of data network and cabling technologies, principles and products
·  Working knowledge of Aperture, SMART and GSD
·  General overview as to how a computer room floor is laid out and how modern server, storage and network infrastructure is integrated.
·  Demonstrated ability to rapidly build relationships with key stakeholders
·  An awareness of IT hardware, software, operations and networks.
·  A track record of overseeing delivery of complex programmes and projects;
·  Proven technical awareness in an IT role
·  Awareness of risk management
·  Have an excellent knowledge of the project lifecycle
·  Be able to enforce the quality policies and processes used in HSBC
·  ITIL foundation
·  PC / Office skills (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes etc)

The base location of this role will be the Wakefield Global Data Centre.
