Role Title: Corporate Actions Analyst

Role Purpose
· The specialist will be working in a team of 3 in London, as well as interacting with the equivalent team of 2 based in Hong Kong.
· These departments are responsible for processing all elements of asset servicing events relating to Prime Services as well as collating, managing and maintaining queries for this business stream across HSS and GBM entities of HSBC.
· The specialist will be responsible for the full front to back processing of Corporate Actions, both mandatory and voluntary with oversight of all income related activity including dividends and cash payments. Ability to handle multiple deadlines throughout the day, processing daily tasks quickly and efficiently is required. A key focus for the team is one of client service - the ability to be able to multi-task, interact with different client bases simultaneously and escalate issues where there is potential for client impact is highly desirable.
· The team are responsible for overseeing all control and reporting aspects of the Asset Services Prime business, as well as being a key contact for escalation. The specialist will also be expected to enact change to existing processes and procedures and have active involvement in various projects as and when they occur.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
· Ensure the teams timely instruction of events to agents and clearing systems
· Ensure breaks allocated are narrated within Asset Services, FIM and Sarbanes Oxley guidelines
· Ensure internal account entries are cleared on a daily basis.
· Ensure instructions, notifications and postings are complete and accurate
Major Challenges
· The Corporate Actions process is very manual so attention to detail and accuracy is key. The department can be a busy environment and the candidate must be able to multitask and manage their daily deadlines as well as ensuring all other tasks are covered.
· Corporate Actions involves the whole asset inventory so in addition to a strong knowledge of various corporate action events the candidate should also have a broad understanding of the settlement and other operational processes.
Role Context
· The working environment can be highly pressurized at times which will require a cool head and an ability to think clearly and logically. The candidate will need to work efficiently to prioritize work in order to manage Financial, Operational and Reputational risk.
· The candidate will be expected to be a strong communicator. You will need to liaise with both internal and external clients and escalate issues where required.
Role Dimensions
· The team is responsible for processing Market Corporate Actions for all global markets. Equity Finance activity is the main driver for our business with increasing activity coming from other equity related initiatives. We anticipate further growth in business from increased volumes, balances sheet expansion and new trading strategies
Management of Risk
· The candidate will be required to understand the risks associated with Corporate Actions and contribute to the departments Sarbanes Oxley requirements. They must also ensure that all HSBC FIM requirements are adhered to on a daily basis
· The role will be governed by FSA regulations
Observation of Internal Controls
· Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
· Ensure that FSA rules are adhered to.
Desired profile
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
· The candidate would need extensive working knowledge of managing complex and large inventory for corporate action purposes. And it is crucial that the candidate has practical and working knowledge and understanding of both voluntary corporate actions and mandatory corporate actions. Accuracy is of the utmost importance.
· An understanding of the American, Emerging Markets and Fixed Income Corporate Action processes is beneficial.
· The candidate would need experience of the intricacies of processing a corporate action for the stock lending world and OTC trades as well as Exchange trades
· Experienced in dealing with top tier Prime Brokerage clients and able to demonstrate a strong understanding of client service.
· Able to lead and promote change initiatives and projects.
