Role Purpose
· RBWM Business Financial Crime Risk (BFCR) team is a new team in the RBWM Chief Control Office area. The BFCR team is responsible for Financial Crime & Regulatory Risk areas, Client Tax Reporting (CTR), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), FC Control Management, Policies and Procedures, Operations, Remediation and Transaction Management and Screening (TM&S).
· The Senior Business Architect is responsible for the BFCR Architecture and will be the lead for any enhancements, automation or new deployments.
· Responsibility will also include: -
o SME for the BFCR architecture
o Interfacing with Streamlining Team
o Problem Solving / Process Deep Dives
o FCR Lead for D&A
o Developing FCR Initiatives/Concepts e.g. Unified ID, End to End controls dashboard
o Completing impact assessment of proposed changes/new architecture including traceability to delivery of changes and working with key stakeholders both globally and where required with specific Regions and Markets
· The role holder will where required be engaged on ad-hoc projects to better manage RBWM Financial crime Risk in order to assess impacts on systems and or processes.
· The role will report to Head of Strategic Initiatives and Innovation.
Key Accountabilities
Impact on Business
· Challenge changes which add little value or are not priority areas.
· Acts as the interface between FCR IT and BFCR to ensure that changes/new technology meet the requirements of the business to effectively manage financial crime risk
· Considers alternative solutions / tactical enhancements whilst strategic solutions are developed
· Ensures that all artifacts are approved and communicated.
· Interfaces with the other RBWM workstreams to ensure end 2 end visibility of approach
· Acts as SME for BFCR Architecture, ensuring consistency of approach and alignment to policy requirements
Customers / Stakeholders
· Identify and engage all key stakeholders and business / technical resources that must participate in the respective programme delivery.
· Ensure resource needs are identified and enable escalation of fulfilment issues to global level, when appropriate.
· Track functional support directly provided to programme deployment, such as FCR IT, escalating where risks and issues arise.
· Lead working groups or workshops either remotely or on location in country when required to assist in production of procedures.
Leadership & Teamwork
· Be seen as the RBWM SME for regions, countries and RBWM Global Team.
· Work as part of the wider RBWM BFCR Delivery Team, ensuring collaboration with other team members.
· Manage direct reports as required, providing feedback, input to appraisals and identifying development opportunities.
· Engage on ad-hoc projects to better manage RBWM Financial crime Risk in order to assess impacts on procedures.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
· Track dispensations and resolution of the underlying issues
· Track progress against agreed schedules, leveraging the defined project control tool, Clarity, facilitating issue escalation where required.
· Ensure appropriate risk controls are in place in the business
Major Challenges
· Working as a virtual team with stakeholders remotely, across diverse timezones, cultures and ways of working.
· Maintaining accountability and control of projects at a Global level without having the control over the resources responsible for the deployment / implementation
· Driving out and documenting requirements against a background of major change (both internal and external to programmes) and tight timeframes around SME availability.
· Organisational complexity to manage end to end changes
Role Context
· Supporting the implementation and embedding of key Financial Crime Risk (FCR) processes into the business,
· Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.
· Given the Global nature of the role, the role holder is required to adopt a flexible approach in terms of work location and working hours with travel required at times. The role holder would not be subject to close supervision and will be expected to exercise initiative and judgment in proactively overcoming obstacles to success.
· Work with multiple stakeholders across the business in 1LoD and 2LoD to align with the overall business strategy.
Role Dimensions
· The business scope encompasses all of RBWM, including Retail Business Banking
· Development and deployment of optimised process and systems to all countries within Global RBWM scope.
· Jurisdictions covered will follow a confirmed deployment plan and will incorporate all countries in which the Bank operates
· Global remit.
Management of Risk
· Awareness of AML and sanctions regulatory requirements.
· Awareness of FIM governance
· Takes account of operational risk considerations.
· Continually assess the risk inherent in programme delivery.
Observation of Internal Controls
· Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
· The jobholder will adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by following relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

Qualifications :
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
· Essential
· Understands the strategy and objectives of RBWM and help drive the programme deliveries in line with these.
· Understands RBWM Business Model and awareness of various Global teams would be an added advantage
· Extensive knowledge of RBWM processes and systems, including CDD, CRT & FCCRAM
· Being a catalyst for change with the intention to improve processes and the control environment
· Understanding of Operational Risk Framework and/or control environment would be an added advantage
· Broad knowledge of global regulatory developments within financial services industry, trends and impact on the business
· An ability to make judgements and anticipate issues based on experience; ability to break down complex problems and use various programme teams to help drive a resolution.
· The ability to assess risk and to escalate issues to FCC SMEs or appropriate business SMEs as required
· Strong organisation and programme management skills to plan and help manage deliveries across countries.
· Experience of managing change across a matrix and global organisation
· Well-developed capacity to process high volumes of complex information and synthesise key themes and issues
· Lateral, creative thinker with good problem solving and analytical skills
· Capable of building strong relationships with stakeholders based on integrity and trust
· Strong team player who can establish a collaborative culture respecting the contribution of team members across all areas.
· Very strong interpersonal and communication skills with capacity to influence senior teams across the product, geographic and function framework

· Effective and concise verbal and written communication skills
· Previous Business Analyst experience essential
· A proven track record of quickly acquiring new skills and expertise
· Previous experience of Global programmes
