Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking an Azure Hybrid Cloud Engineer to join HSBC Technology.
The Azure Hybrid Cloud engineers will work within the global Azure Cloud Services team who are responsible for building highly resilient, scalable, reusable and performant Azure infrastructure in an automated and efficient manner.
Reporting to the Azure Engineering Lead and working across the Azure Cloud Services team, Microsoft and Cyber Security to ensure that we are delivering functional patterns that are secure-by-design and compliant with HSBC mandatory policies and security standards.
What you will be doing;
· Build and manage the HSBC Azure foundation platform to enable application deployments
· Engineer solutions on Azure foundation platform using Infrastructure-as-Code methods (e.g. Terraform)
· Execute the functional pattern lifecycle process (design, document, develop and maintain) code library
· Integrate, configure, deploy and manage centrally provided common cloud services (e.g. IAM, networking, monitoring, Operating systems, Containers.)
· Manage Azure connectivity and networking e.g. Express Route, DNS, IP allocation and traffic routing, NSG's and Azure Firewall
· Consume centrally agreed base HSBC Hardened OS (Linux and Windows)
· Ensure compliance with centrally defined Security
· Ensure compliancy with Operational risk standards (E.g. Network, Firewall, OS, Logging, Monitoring, Availability, Resiliency)
· Build and support continuous integration (CI), continuous delivery (CD) and continuous testing activities
· Engineering activities to implement patches provided centrally
· Support non-functional testing
· Update support and operational documentation as required
· Fault find and support Applications teams
· Maintain and advance deep technical skills and knowledge, keeping up to date with market trends and competitive insights, and share within the technical community
· HSBC standards Business contingency standards
· Develop and promote the reuse of patterns
· Be an Azure Platform evangelist with customers, partners and external communities
· Provide Management reporting to ensure data driven discussions for continuous improvement
· Gather requirements and provide continuous feedback loops between Cyber security and the wider Azure Cloud Services team

Qualifications :
What you will bring to the role;
To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:
· Experience of building a range of Services in Azure
· Expert understanding of DevOps principles and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and techniques
· Proficient understanding and implementation of CI/CD pipeline on multiple technology stacks
· Security and Compliance, e.g. IAM and cloud compliance/auditing/monitoring tools
· Customer/stakeholder focus. Ability to build strong relationships with Application teams, cross functional IT and global/local IT teams
· Good leadership and teamwork skills - Works collaboratively in an agile environment with DevOps application ‘pods' to provide Azure specific capability/skills required to deliver the service
· Operational effectiveness - delivers solutions that align to approved design patterns and security standards
· Risk management effectiveness
· Excellent skills in at least one of following: ARM, Powershell and Terraform
· Experience in dealing with multiple support groups that contribute to a service
· A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
· Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
· Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
Essential Skills
· Demonstrable Azure experience - infrastructure build and configurations of a variety of services including Compute, Storage, SDN Managing their own time and prioritising workloads
· Experience implementing CI/CD pipeline on multiple technology stacks
· Experience working with highly available/high-load web infrastructure e.g. web proxies, reverse proxies
· Technical knowledge and breadth of Azure technology services (Identity, Networking, Compute, Storage, Web, Mobile, Containers, Databases, Analytics, AI & Machine learning)
· Have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
· Demonstrable risk management knowledge
· Keen problem solving skills (Analytical and Creative)
· Experience working within an Agile team environment
· Ability to quickly acquire new skills
Desirable Skills
· Industry recognised cloud certifications
· Programming experience in the following languages: PowerShell, Terraform, Go, Bash, Windows command prompt and object orientated programming languages
· Demonstrable experience of Linux administration and scripting preferably Red Hat
· Experience operating in highly regulated industry, e.g. Financial Services
This role will primarily be based at our Head Office in Canary Wharf, but some travel may be required.
