Global Service Delivery

Within HSBC Operations, Services and Technology, Global Service Delivery is a leader in the development of services and processes that are designed around the customer and enable the firm to demonstrate to regulators that its processes and ways of working will deliver consistently high standards of compliance. Every day, customers all over the world are paying bills, buying homes and setting up companies and every day, Global Service Delivery teams are making sure all this happens smoothly.

Role Purpose

To plan, manage and execute the newly created HOST Offshore region's Employee & Relations strategy and policies, to support change & transformation while maintaining a harmonious working environment within the organization. To ensure that decisions taken in this regard are compliant with local legislations, and the Group's guidelines that apply. HOST offshore region comprises of 65,000 employees across 7 countries and 22 sites. This particular role will be based in Guangzhou with coverage of pan China ER matters (11.5K employees across 3 cities) with additional exposure to other jurisdictions as and when appropriate.

Typical Targets and Measures

Impact on the Business/Function

· Provide advisory to business/business facing HR team(s) on a labour and employment matters including change initiatives
· Support and advise on the employment and people implications of reorganisations and restructuring
· Coach and develop HR colleagues and people managers on the effective resolution of ER matters. May include providing formal training and periodic technical updates to client/stakeholder groups.
· Manage ER and whistleblowing issues and investigations, coaching and developing ER team members, HR BP's and senior management of effective resolution of ER matters.
· Support management of Industrial Relations situations/matters, may include union relationships and negotiations (if applicable)
· Support the design & implementation of HR / ER policies in compliance with local labour laws, regulations and Group guidelines.

· HOST Offshore policies and activities adhere to Group ER guidelines

· Employee Relations Risk is managed within the defined threshold for HOST Offshore China

· Enhanced HR and line manager capability

Customers / Stakeholders

· Build strong relationships with various internal stake holders i.e. HR Team, Internal Legal, Specialist Functions for seamless delivery of ER objectives
· Partner with Head of ER HOST Offshore, ASP and Group ER teams and External & Internal regulatory bodies

· Strong working relationships with key stakeholders

Leadership & Teamwork

· To be an active and credible/valued member of the HOST Offshore China HR team, contributing to the success of the business
· To work effectively with the relevant global HR team(s) and HR specialist functions to ensure effective implementation and consistent application of ER policies and procedures
· To role model the people management culture of HSBC and exemplify and apply HSBC values throughout

· Be seen as a role model of the new HSBC culture by leaders, subordinates and peers

· Credible advisor to business leaders/line HR on ER matters

Operational Effectiveness & Control

· Compliance to Legal entity/ Country regulatory, and other local matters while operating to defined Global Standards
· Effectively partner with legal counsels on employment litigation matters
· Ensure that all redundancies / restructuring are handled in accordance with HSBC guidelines and local regulatory requirements.
· Manage ER matters in line with internal policies such as the Global Consequence Management Framework, The China Disciplinary Policy, Workplace Harassment protocols, Code of Conduct etc.

· Minimal regulatory risks and where existing, mitigation measures in place

· Smooth management of conduct issues in line with group standards

· Minimal legal risks

· Minimize/ eliminate ER risk arising out of redundancies

Desired profile



Qualifications :

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role – not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.)

·  Solid experience in handling complex Employee Relations matters (disciplinaries, grievances, capability cases) either within dedicated ER role or HR generalist/transformation role
·  High business acumen and ability to understand changing business trends
·  Good knowledge of labour & employment legislations & application to the business context
·  A clear and concise communication style with strong interpersonal and skills
·  Strong investigation and report writing skills
·  Well-developed organizational skills and strong attention to detail
·  Flexible and able to multi-task and re-prioritise
·  Ability to work with and constructively influence multiple stakeholders
·  Experience of working in successfully navigate a complex organizational structure
