Job description

The role assists senior personnel within the CMB Origination team (“CMBO”) to build relationships by identifying and meeting existing and prospective CMB customer needs for Global Banking & Markets (“GB&M”) products and solutions. This role is responsible for identifying product opportunities, carrying out customer research, financial analysis and helping the senior staff prepare for customer meetings. Another fundamental part of the role includes driving the collaboration agenda related to Global Markets, including liaising with senior Global Markets (“GM”) management to provide reliable MI and targeting analysis for CMBO.

The tasks for this role may include some or all of the following:
· Provide support to senior CMBO staff to enable them to optimise the potential value of client relationships, improve client engagement and deliver needs-based solutions and fair outcomes for customers
· Enable proactive client management by attending client meetings with senior CMBO team members as necessary and acting as the first point of contact in their absence
· Prepare appropriate analysis, proposals and presentations to clients and prospective customers
· Support the senior CMBO staff on day-to-day activities including client targetting, pipeline management, coordination with product partners and ensuring data are accurately and timely updated
· Undertake financial analysis as required to present to clients and prospective clients
· Collaborate with Group colleagues to deliver appropriate needs-based solutions for customers
· Ensure consistent application of Group Policy and adhere to regulatory, financial, and legal standards to minimise business and reputational risks
Impact on the Business

Collaboration between Commercial Banking (CMB) and Global Banking and Markets (GB&M) is a key global strategic imperative for the HSBC group. The aim of this collaboration is to maximize revenues from GB&M products with CMB clients and responsibility for this is housed under the CMB Origination team.

The key GB&M products in question are as follows:
· Leveraged and Acquisition financing
· Structured Finance
· Debt Capital Markets
· Equity Capital Markets
· Mergers and Acquisitions / Advisory
· Rates
· FX
Customers / Stakeholders

Key customers include:
· Existing CMB customers for whom GB&M product solutions are appropriate
· Prospective CMB customers for whom GB&M product solutions are appropriate, whether on a defined Prospect list or not
Key Stakeholders include:
· Global Head of Client Coverage
· Head of CMB USA
· Head of CMB Origination North America
· CMB RMs, particularly Large Corporate and Mid-Market
· All GB&M Product Partners including heads of M&A, LAF, ECM, DCM, IRG, Structured Finance and GMCS (Global Markets Corporate Services)

This would be demonstrated through escalating, speaking up and a proactive approach to identifying when things go wrong or potential risk issues are identified.
Local Job Requirements
· Act as the point of contact for Global Markets-related collaboration activity with CMB, driving key business development initiatives including: producing management MI, managing strategic and focus name lists, tracking revenues against plan, AOP planning.
· An understanding of relevant Markets products and Thought Leadership services appropriate for CMB clients and a joint responsibility (with Markets and CMB RMs) for driving revenue from these products in the segment.
· Coordination and connectivity, related to the origination of overall GB&M product business, between CMB RMs, GB&M product specialists and GB sector specialists.
· Financial analysis of corporates, including acquisition capacity, shareholder value creation drivers, capital structure analysis, comparable company analysis, and overall identification of appropriate products for CMB clients
· Preparation of presentations for clients including analysis mentioned above and proposed solutions, in conjunction with GB&M product partners and sector specialists
· Meetings with clients or prospects to present financial analysis and HSBC proposals
· Maintenance of a database of CMB clients and prospects in order to target those corporates appropriately positioned for GB&M products
· Tracking of collaboration transactions executed, mandated and in pipeline in order to continually track and estimate annual performance against AOP
· Keeping abreast of current financial markets and GB&M deals carried out both by HSBC and by other banks in order to provide added value to CMB RMs and to clients during meetings

Desired profile

Qualifications :

·  FINRA Series 63 and 79
·  At least 2 years of solid experience in finance
·  Strong financial modelling and understanding of GB&M products
·  Experience working closely with or as GB&M product specialists
·  An interest in financial markets and the corporate Mid-market segment
·  At ease with coordinating pitches and presenting complex financial solutions to senior client representatives and internally.
