We are seeking a proactive individual to join our LAF team in Sydney. Reporting to the MD, Head of LAF and Loan Origination Australia, you will be responsible for driving / supporting origination, structuring, execution, and distribution capabilities for the LAF product group as part of Global Banking.

The Associate will support the Head in satisfying growth, revenue and cost targets for the business, with the goal of enhancing corporate and sponsor (private equity and infrastructure) client relationships (greater share of wallet) and building effective internal and peer / investor bank relationships. This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your strong credit, structuring, origination and wider people skills within a results driven and challenging environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Driving, supporting and assisting where relevant, marketing activities, pitch preparation, term sheet structuring, credit / underwrite processing, execution (documentation etc.) and distribution of LAF opportunities for corporate and sponsor transactions.
• Establishing a strong and productive network of business relationships internally and externally.
• Identify and action cross selling opportunities across the business (M&A, bonds, hedging etc.).
• Driving and running with the preparation of wider debt market updates and strategic pitch books.
• Establishing strong relationships with HSBC's other product areas (sector / M&A, DCM, Markets etc.) and corporate relationship management teams (GB and CMB).
• Developing / maintaining an appropriate level of understanding of each relevant customer's business, industry and associated markets.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Previous experience within a structured debt product area or similar

• Previous experience in origination / marketing functions, credit / underwrite applications (including strong modelling and committee presentation skills), deal execution and distribution for corporate acquisition, leveraged and structured debt transactions across loan and bond product ideally
• Degree qualified in a finance related discipline

• Solid understanding of risk management and risk mitigation
• To be able to demonstrate your ability to build strong client and internal relationships
• Appropriate analytical skills with a strong commercial orientation, focusing on credit and syndicated loan qualities
• Excellent communication skills
• To consistently meet and exceed customer expectations through superior customer service and show the ability to identify cross sell and business growing opportunities where relevant
