Global Asset Management, the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Associate Director, Market Strategist.
 
Principal responsibilities
Position HSBC Global Asset Management as a leading Asset Management Company by developing and delivering ‘retail friendly’ presentations & written collaterals to a wide spectrum of distributors and retail customers in Hong Kong and China
Identify opportunities to best position Funds against competitors, working with Portfolio Managers, Product Specialists and Client Propositions.
Work collaboratively with the Wholesale Team in delivering a proactive, professional and service oriented distribution platform
Working closely with the Team Leader for Wholesale and HSBC Group and develop a responsive program to deliver ideas to frontline staffs and improve awareness of Asset Management Group's investment outlook and products.
Strongly support Wholesale, Partnerships in Hong Kong and Wholesale in China teams in developing an active schedule for presentations to third party distributors across Hong Kong and China. 
Ensure Asset Management Group is positioned as the preferred provider on the Retail Banking and Wealth Management fund platforms in Hong Kong and China. Gain market share with external distributors
Working with Product Specialists and Customer Propositions, develop other materials for use in the field. Topics could vary from investment principles, market updates, fund profiles and performance updates.  The focus is increasing ‘top of mind’ awareness for Asset Management Group and supporting business expansion.
Share market information to enable Asset Management Group to enhance its corporate knowledge and improve competitiveness across product, service & marketing.
Leverage business acumen in demonstrating a strong understanding of the customer needs and translating these into communication programs in both written and verbal, that position Asset Management Group as the preferred provider
Working with the Teams, strengthen relationships with our key distributors, developing contacts to support Asset Management Group activity.
Increase distributor satisfaction with responsive, tailored service, open dialogue and ‘can-do’ attitude
Provide insight and market knowledge to deliver commercial support which is valued by distributors and investors.
Ensure investment, market and Fund knowledge is excellent and current, working with Asset Management Group portfolio managers to maintain insight and expertise.
Comply with all Group policies
Demonstrate a good understanding of retail commercial processes
Understand operational processes and procedures, and their implications. Escalating concerns as soon as practical to minimize disruption.

Desired profile

Requirements
A solid number of years working in the wholesales commercial industry with a reputable asset management house
Sound understanding, experience and knowledge in interacting with various client channels including HSBC retail, private banks, third party and China distributors across both Hong Kong and China
Initiative and being a ‘self starter’ with a pragmatic, ‘can do’ approach
Confident public speaker in Cantonese, Mandarin and English and able to write competently in English and Chinese
Confidence and enjoyment gained from interacting with distributors and retail customers
Teamwork and leadership, setting an example in behavior and business execution.
Ability to foster strong relationships across a large client with diverse requirements.
Ability to translate investment concepts or outlook into easily communicated presentations or materials which enhance the audiences’ knowledge and support commercial activity. 
Utilise previous experience and market knowledge to develop schedules and achieve ‘best of class’ approach.
Apply business acumen in planning and execution, seeking guidance as required.
Support Asset Management Group cross departmental collaboration to deliver a market competitive offer.
The role will have significant input into Asset Management Group's Wholesale business plans. The incumbent is expected to collaborate with colleagues and develop good relationships with distributors.  Given the breadth of distributors, the role would require extensive travel in China, tentatively 5-8 business days per month
