This is your chance to be part of an in-house Architecture, Design & Construction team that delivers exceptional properties that delight our guests, reward our partners, and reflect the unique cultures of their geographical locations! As a Manager of Engineering on the CALA AD&C team, reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, you will work on projects across Hilton's brand portfolio, including projects for all brands in Mexico and Central America.
What you'll do during a typical day:
· Review engineering MEP&FP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) drawings, calculations, and construction documents during the project's design phase.
· Identify deviations from D&C (Design and Construction) Brand Standards and best industry practices.
· Review the FLS (Fire Life Safety) strategy at an early stage of the project to comply with D&C Brand Standards and the referenced International Standards.
· Participate in VE (Value Engineering) coordination and review to ensure project efficient and cost-effective construction practices.
· Review primary construction submittals, shop drawings, and construction details to ensure compliance with D&C Brand Standards and best industry practices.
· Visit projects during construction to ensure compliance with the submitted and approved drawings and construction documents.
· Ensure the implementation of Testing, Balancing, and Commissioning of the MEP&FP systems and handover documentation for successful opening of the hotels in the assigned region.
How you'll collaborate with others:
· Collaborate with Project Management, Design and Architectural Leads to guide the engineering development of projects, ensuring compliance with D&C Brand Standards. This includes MEP&FP systems design reviews and project FLS strategy, project site visits assuring construction methos, and systems installation comply with D&C Brand Standards.
· Assist Project Managers in meeting engineering requirements for developing PIPs (Property Improvement Plans) for existing hotels and proposed hotel conversions.
· Chair engineering review meetings and workshops with design consultants, construction contractors, commissioning providers, ownership groups, and developers, communicating D&C Brand Standard requirements, code interpretations, and best industry practices.
· Assist the AD&C team and guide the incorporation of ESG (Environmental and Sustainability Governance) and Energy and Water Efficiency strategies in the project design.
· Review engineering requirements and changes in the Brand Standards and provide recommendations for updates to adapt to best industry practices and regional particularities.
· Advocate for architectural priorities in meetings, offering expertise on project-specific challenges and regional initiatives
Projects you'll take ownership of:
· Review design and construction of MEP&FP systems to develop new hotels (from signing to opening) in Mexico and Central America.
· Provide engineering support to Project Managers and PIP writers for existing hotels being converted or renovated.
What It Takes to Make the Stay
You have these minimum qualifications:
· Eight (8) years of work experience in the design and construction administration of MEP&FP systems.
· Three (3) years of hospitality experience, leading design for new construction and renovation hotel projects.
· Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Protection Engineering, or a similar field related to engineering design and construction for building systems.
· Licensed Professional Engineer or recognized professional qualification for design and construction-related license to practice engineering.
· Experience implementing FLS (Fire Life Safety) principles, applying NFPA and International FLS Standards.
· Fluency in English and Spanish.
· Willingness to travel up to 50-75% throughout Latin America and United States.
It would be useful if you have:
· Experience working for an international hotel brand.
· On-site practical experience, including testing and commissioning of MEP&FP systems for hospitality projects.
· Understanding of sustainable design, energy efficiency, and operations principles.
· Experience managing multiple projects across diverse international locations and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
