Job description
A Chief Engineer, A-CE - Operations, will manage the Engineering Team to efficiently maintain all hotel operations and ensure the highest levels of safety, security, conservation, and compliance.
What will I be doing?
As Chief Engineer, A-CE - Operations, you are responsible for the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, including energy conservation. You are also responsible for the development of the Engineering Team and staying abreast of compliance regulations and procedures in the field of Engineering, as required for hotel standards. Specifically, a Chief Engineer will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:
Position Summary
Drive all projects, capex, under operations approved, owner funded under Operations perspective, special projects, create BOQ, float through purchase bid/ to obtain proposals, compare technically, and share for commercial final negotiations with procurement committee.
Performs schedule and share plan for management approvals, trains fellow engineers on project aspects and execution, new machines, equipment installation, involves concerned engineering managers & engineers for commissioning as well SOP’s for new machine, equiupment operaitons with DOE & CE-Operations, process commissioning reports with projects, supplier, vendor, post satisfcatory training of resort engineers on safe operations and maintenance.
Conducted project and operations meetings to synergize all new projects with the resort's operations.
Conduct weekly project meetings to update ongoing projects for operations HODs. Seek guidance to improve the quality of project delivery, considering guest reviews and feedback, to maintain guest engagement scores (both internal and external).
Identify opportunity areas to enhance processes and develop/propose methods of improving the efficiency of machines, equipment, associated system auxiliaries, and ancillaries to conserve energy and enhance sustainability.
Analyze guest feedback to understand gaps; modify required project execution to suit operational needs from time to time; communicate constantly with the respective HODs and AHODs of the relevant departments.
Review and identify shortfalls in project safety, considering FLS and Life safety. Occasionally, recheck “Process, Product, Projects People-Performance involved, and Engineering TM’s—Training” and communicate with DOE and CE Operations as well as HODs.
Reviews SOPs and provides support to HODs to increase efficiency and performance.
Ensures compliance with Waldorf Astoria Maldives Policies, processes, quality assurance, and FORBES standards to create consistency in the highest quality of guest services and project support.
Prepares audit reports and shares feedback with DOE and CE operations on SOPs followed and implemented after new projects are completed to maintain assets in immaculate condition and foster a positive guest experience.
Observes the performance of the project team subcontractor/ supplier/ vendor and encourages continuous improvement.
Plans, presents, and implements training modules on new projects, products, machines, and equipment SOPs to ensure all engineers are conversant with technological updates and the latest technology trends.
Monitors project team members' progress to ensure consistent implementation and follow-through of Waldorf Astoria standards.
Attends departmental pre-shift meetings and projects, communicates transparently with DOE, CE Operations on new processes and procedures that may impact projects and resort’s operations.
Bring innovative strategies to elevate the guest experience and improve continuous processes.
Infuse the concept of Kaizen philosophy while evaluating and enhancing processes and procedures.
Daily follow-ups since owners are asking & demanding operations support on both Engineering & Landscape, which get disrupted due to projects
Coordinating internally with Finance & Purchase for operations procurement/ purchase, which falls under me presently for procurement; attending the regular owner’s weekly projects development call to align and update.
Conduct weekly walk-throughs of projects and storage areas, including operational areas, to address needs and follow up on necessary rectifications, considering FLS & LS.
