Job description

H'lala is an Islamic Fintech startup looking to create a Revolut/Monzo alternative for the UK and Western European Muslim ummah.

We are looking for an intern to help us with Primary Market Research. You would be working very closely with the co-founders to formulate and conduct in-person survey, which would greatly improve our understand of the customer’s key needs and wants.

We are looking for someone who is hungry to get first hand experience in market research, and is proactive and eager to learn. We are based in Marylebone, London and would strongly prefer someone who can work on this internship in person, not remotely. Reasonable expenses will be covered.

Maslow’s Hierarchy problem: Muslims living in the West feel an inherent conflict between Religious Belief and Convenience. Not being able to fully fulfil basic-level Maslow needs (food, no alcohol, banking & finance, etc.) doesn’t truly allow members of the Muslim community to ascend the ladder of success, according to their belief.

By creating an Easy, Attractive, Social, and Timely (EAST) product, specifically catered to the Muslim community, we hope to alleviate their internal conflict between belief and convenience, to enable them to climb the ladder of success. We will start with a halal product that they would use multiple times on a daily basis, to help them feel closer to their God.

A digital fintech product, which brings:
Easy: sign-up and money management;
Attractive: Sharia compliant, 0% interest, ringfenced accounts, modern Muslim branding
Social: community referrals, notifications and social media sharing
Timely: use repeatedly on daily basis for all payment and money management needs.

Our long term vision for H’lala is to create a Global Islamic Lifestyle Brand that goes beyond banking and finance; a Brand that Muslims can trust will be halal and aligned with their beliefs and values.
