Role Summary/Purpose
The Wind Field Specialist - Blades will be required to travel for blade work through the US and Canada and will be responsible for the internal and external inspections and repair of fiberglass and composite blades, spinners, and nacelles from Category 1 through Category 5.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Wind Field Specialist - Blades, you will:
· Inspect and photograph internal and external blade damage, document findings, and assemble all associated paperwork as required to be posted for further action by Engineering
· Perform composite repairs on internal and external blade surfaces, leading and trailing edge repair while following guidelines provided by Engineering with locations both up tower and down tower
· Utilize blade access platforms, boom trucks, and rope access at heights of 300ft or more
· Help in all areas of site preparation (i.e. coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision
· Document all work performed using computer based service reporting procedures
· Communicate site status to engineering, customers, and management
· Provide maintenance support and preform large component replacement of wind turbine generators
· Provide wind turbine generator LOTO (Lock Out & Tag Out) support
Qualifications/Requirements
· High School Diploma / GED
· Minimum of 2 years of composite repair experience (OR Graduate of a Wind Tech and/or Composite program) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with travel up to 100%
· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and necessary work documents for international travel
· Required to handle repetitive weight - 50 lbs
· Required to climb towers up to 300 feet
· Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions, within safety guidelines
· Ability to meet specific OSHA weight limits 300lbs max
· Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
· Ability and willingness to read, interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
· Must be able to write reports and calculate basic math in all units of measure
· Ability and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities
· Must be willing to work a flexible shift schedules
Desired Characteristics
· Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
· Composite repair experience
· Blade access platforms experience
· Strong EHS knowledge and experience
· SPRAT (Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians) Rope access trained
· Lightning protection system inspections knowledge
· Understand technology of wind blade construction and repair
