You play an important part in delivering innovative technology that supports a more sustainable energy future. As a Test Technician in our Grid Solutions manufacturing team in Stafford, you help ensure our high-voltage products are tested safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards before they reach customers around the world.
This is a permanent, site-based, shift-based role where you work hands-on with advanced equipment, support critical manufacturing activity, and contribute to technologies that help strengthen and modernise power networks.
What you’ll do
You carry out routine production testing of high-voltage direct current and related power products in line with manufacturing and project requirements.
You will also:

Diagnose test failures and help identify faults down to component level
·
Support test engineers and the wider manufacturing team to resolve technical issues quickly and effectively
·
Carry out routine test-related processes and checks accurately
·
Support the maintenance, calibration, and servicing of test equipment
·
Assist with test equipment upgrades and product changeovers
·
Complete daily safety checks and maintain clear, accurate documentation
·
Follow safe working practices at all times and take an active role in creating a safe working environment
·
Act as a Person in Charge when required
What you bring
You bring hands-on experience from a manufacturing or industrial test environment and enjoy solving practical technical problems. You are proactive, safety-focused, and ready to learn.
We’re particularly interested in candidates who have:

Experience working in a test environment, ideally with electrical or high-voltage equipment
·
A technical electrical qualification or equivalent practical training
·
Knowledge of manufacturing test equipment, including automated test systems
·
The ability to diagnose faults and support effective technical problem-solving
·
A strong focus on quality, safety, and getting the job done right
·
Good communication skills and the confidence to work closely with colleagues across the site
·
Good written and spoken English
It would be helpful if you also have:
·
Experience working with equipment up to 10kV or high-current low-voltage systems
·
Knowledge of high-voltage direct current product testing
