Role Summary/Purpose

GE Digital is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to work on a number of exciting projects that will have a very positive impact on GE’s business. You will be part Cloud Engineering team at GE Digital and responsible for designing and building highly scalable and secure Cloud solutions industry leading Predix IIoT solutions using latest, cutting-edge tools and technologies.
Essential Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
• As a member of the Cloud Engineering team will work on cutting edge DevOps/CloudOps technologies in a fast paced and agile software development technologies and infrastructure
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements & roadmap
• Translate requirements into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards
• Work with product line leaders and architects to develop software development plans
• Investigate root cause of severe and systemic outages, identify corrective actions
• Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
• Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables
• Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
• Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
• Provide timely and accurate estimates for deliverables
• Establish foundation for future implementations and automation requirements in the cloud
• Provide impact assessment and mitigation plan for changes going into the production environment
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or Other Majors. A minimum 4 years of professional experience.
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:
• 2-3 years of experience in DevOps/CloudOps and automation areas
• Experience with Linux OS (Ubuntu/CentOS/other) is strongly preferred
• Advance level knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, and IAM
• AWS Associate level certification is a big plus
• Experience with DevOps methodology and configuration management tools Ansible/Puppet/Chef, Terraform or Cloud formation
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure on public clouds (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Knowledge of network security/inspection technologies (ex. Bro, Suricata, Snort)
• Experience with Metrics, Monitoring & Alerting tools: Sensu, Prometheus, Nagios, Zabbix, Graphite, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, etc
• Ability to actively participate in 24X7 on-call rotation with the team
• Familiar with large scale cluster management systems (Mesos, Kubernetes)

• Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
