At GE Vernova Power Conversion Storage Asia, the Asia Resource Manager role for Rotating Machines is an exciting opportunity for an action-oriented individual with a strong technical foundation in large electric motors and generators. This role is responsible for assembling the necessary resources, logistics, and technical expertise that enable field service engineers to conduct maintenance, repair, and refurbishment activities at customer sites or workshop locations across Asia.
Reporting directly to the Asia Field Service Resource Manager and with a dotted line to the Technical Support Leader, this role requires close coordination with customers, factories, suppliers, workshops, and the engineering team, and EHS manager. This role contributes significantly to maintaining and improving the performance of existing products, including preventive and remedial maintenance and leading maintenance facilities and field service engineers. This role requires frequent travel to various in-country and overseas client sites and is ideal for those who excel in dynamic environments. Additionally, the position is responsible for developing the capabilities and skills of the rotating machines team to tackle complex tasks.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of rotating machines field service engineers across Asia, aligning their skills and expertise with job requirements to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Strategically allocate resources to meet customer demands, optimizing team performance and minimizing downtime.
- Monitor field service activities to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and performance standards.
- Estimate job requirements, including labor, time, materials, and logistics for commissioning, service, and repair tasks.
- Collaborate with sales, project teams, and customers to assess job scopes and provide accurate technical inputs for proposals and quotations.
- Develop detailed job plans and schedules to ensure the effective deployment of resources and on-time project completion.
- Identify, select, and coordinate workshops and external labor resources for specific job requirements, ensuring they meet GE Vernova’s quality and performance standards.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality repairs and services.
- Identify and coordinate the tools, equipment, and logistics required for each job, ensuring availability, proper maintenance, and compliance with operational needs.
- Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and allocation of tools to ensure optimal working conditions.
- Act as the subject matter expert for rotating machines, providing advanced technical support and guidance to field engineers during complex service and repair activities.
- Troubleshoot challenging technical issues and deliver innovative solutions to ensure successful job completion.
- Continuously update and expand technical knowledge to keep pace with industry advancements.
- Develop and enhance the skills and capabilities of the rotating machines team, enabling them to perform complex maintenance and service activities.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to engineers, fostering a high-performing, technically skilled team.
- Possesses a good understanding of various standards relevant to motor/generator design (e.g., NEMA, IEC, ABS, DNV, Lloyds).
- Collaborate closely with customers, factories, suppliers, workshops, and the engineering team to ensure seamless execution of service and repair activities.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to address challenges, align expectations, and ensure successful project outcomes.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Masters/ Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience:
- Field service and maintenance of large rotating machinery, including repair, overhaul, dismantling, and assembly.
- Condition monitoring and health assessment of electrical machines.
- Project management, including developing and managing service solutions, creating technical proposals, and building cost sheets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of operating principles, maintenance practices, and troubleshooting techniques for large rotating machines.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEMA, IEC, ABS, ANSI, DNV, Lloyds, Ex).
- Strong understanding of stator and electrical insulation, stator rewinding, rotor balancing, and vibration analysis.
- Experience working with vendor partners for equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Business Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, engineers, project managers, and vendors.

Desired Characteristics
- Design and/or servicing of large Electrical rotating machines such as Induction, Synchronous DFIG, PMG machines.
- Experience in using Lean tools for continuous improvement.
