Job Description Summary
The GE Aerospace Quality Engineer in Pittsburgh will be responsible for key functional, business, and company objectives and report to the onsite Quality Leader. In this role, you will solve complex issues affecting the business, executing the long-term business plan and driving quality excellence in the organization. You will work with the larger sub-section team (including Global Quality), as well as a cross-functional team from other organizations.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities :
· Lead and support inspection and release-to-service processes in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements
· Provide oversight of inspection procedures to ensure inspection methods and techniques are performed accurately by inspection personnel.
· Drive quality excellence, regulatory compliance, and a strong safety and quality culture across the site
· Reduce risk in shop operations through robust inspection methods, documentation integrity, and strong control of materials and data
· Solve complex quality and compliance issues while supporting execution of the long-term business plan
· Maintain historical records in accordance with required retention timelines and practices.
· Ensure all applicable inspection and test equipment is checked, calibrated, repaired, or readjusted at required intervals to maintain correct calibration status.
· Serve as the secondary interface with regulatory agencies, (e.g. FAA, EASA, UK CAA)
· Ensure that all regulatory requirements are met.
· All Regulatory, Customer and Supplier audit requirements are satisfied.
· Introduce and manage the Safety Management System at the shop.
· Perform internal audits locally and at remote locations.
· Conduct Quality and Human Factor training for all staff.
· Conduct Root Cause Analysis and PFMEA when required.
· Own the proactive quality framework for reducing quality risk at the shop.
· Lead RCCA Execution for the shop facilitating best practice sharing with other GE Aerospace and OWS shops
Minimum Requirements :
· Bachelors degree (in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering preferred) from an accredited college or university and 3+ years of experience in Aviation and Production Quality Assurance (or a minimum high school diploma / GED with an additional 4+ years of experience in Aviation and Production Quality Assurance).
· 1+ years of experience working with aviation regulatory agencies.
· 1+ years of experience working with FAA FAR 145 procedures.
Desired Characteristics :
· Qualified Auditor with auditing experience within regulated aviation environments desired.
· Prior inspection / certifying staff experience in an MRO or Part 145 setting is highly preferred.
· Familiarity with inspection methods and techniques used in the station’s area of expertise.
